If you're going to "go around" a scale invest some time, effort and miles in it. Missing the scale by such a small distance is just asking for a trip back to the scale.

That was my thinking... I'll see what I scale at the flying hook in the morning, but if I am right and need 150 miles or so, I think I will take a scenic rout and catch back up to the 40 down the road aways.nascarchuck Thanks this.

Just a update... I have my galvanized pail filled with vittles and a apple for the teacher ready for tommorrow. Lol. Have all gear ready, road atlas, pens, 36 box of crayons, glue and calculator. Honey do's at Mother and Flather in laws house finished today. Studied general knowledge and air brakes again today. Might not have time to test on those tommorrow. Don't know what the day will hold. I feel good about it though. Onward through the fog. (Slowly with the low beems and clearence lights on.)

My other thought, and probably the safer course of action is to turn around and run west for a while, turn back around and then reweigh and see where I am at.

I wouldnt go west too far on 30 because you have the scales around Mt Vernon or Mt Pleasant or somewhere in that area. You never know if they are open or not.

I'm in Mt Vernon right now... I did hit an open scale south of San Antonio Friday... they were apparently all busy with inspections or something, me and four other trucks were green lighted straight through

If you havent hit the scales yet, you will soon. They are somewhere along the stretch of 30 where you are. Hopefully they will be closed... I got a level 2 DOT there. The trooper was really cool though as we just bs'ed for about 10 or 5 minutes in his Tahoe. Luckily I got a no violation receipt!

Just checked... they are up ahead... never seen it open on my travels, but you never know... I plan to be rolling by 4 so hopefully they are not awake yet
