if you guys know something about trucking , you know its not fair , and you know everything will go against YOU as soon as you get in trouble.
so i decided fews week ago to put a dashcam, with a recording of 24hours, to be sure to record my last day.
the camera has night vision, motion detection, so if a stupid driver, goes right in front of you and hit his brakes, how am i going to defend myself without the camera.
even if somebody hit me at the parking lot while in sleeper and just run away, with the video, i have it on tape. i can disput camera light , even speed.
protect yourself and your CDL against bad drivers or bad company ! it is just an advice i wanted to give because to have this camera give me a little peace of mind .
here is the website if you want more information!

protect yourself with a dashcam !

Good advice, and there are a couple of threads about them under the Electronic Connection Forums..

I have had one for about 5 months now. I have 2 cards, 16GB and a 32GB. -

Jim mounted in one of those Wall mart outside security camera sets to one of the trucks one camera on each mirror, one forward in the cab and a wireless one that has a magnet of the back of the trailer. Records 24-7 for 30 days onto a hard drive. All 4 camera views at the same time. They are 12 volt and easy to put in.

Just remember, it can hurt you also. A dashcam can also bury you to prove you were at fault or even preventable. If you have one mounted and officer sees it, can request it be submitted in a court of law. Just a little FYI. Be safe out there drivers.

Has it gotten that bad ? Man I'm thrilled at being retired...can't see the reason for so much paranoia these days. If you do what is right the 1st time, drive defensively, treat folks with a little respect...do I need to go on? One thing wrong with the world today ...people always looking for a free ride on someone else dime.
-
Do not know if it has gotten any worse, the camera system is for panoramic views of the country, but Jim says he is happy that he put them on. 4 wheelers think twice about cutting off or doing a squeeze play when they see the cameras on the mirror brackets.

I guess I can see the logic there Mhbd, but still glad I'm not having to deal with it anymore. You guys/girls take care & drive safe!

HwyPrsnr said it well , remember what can help you can always turn around and bite you also. Remember that the recordings from said camera (s) can be be called into court in the event of an accident and an attorney can review the entire recording and even though you may not be at fault in that incident if they can show that you have been negligent on another part of the recording it can be used against you in a civil case. They can use it to shift the blame by saying that you have operated the vehicle in an unsafe manner in the past.

Since the bias is almost always going to be against the erstwhile trucker - - I'd rather have it and possibly work against me, than need it to help me and not have it.
