And how do you get paid on overtime? I take it that the overtime worked is not in lieu of time off unless there is an agreement with the company

They lied. check my edit on my last post. Take my word for it, you might get it on some 12 hour on location days but thats pretty much it, they give you the whole salary speach as an answer
-
OK, thanks. That's too bad though. The whole point of going there is to work as much as I can and make as much money as I can. Plus if they are lying about the overtime then I wonder what else they are lying about :/

Nitrogen is right about Sanjel. My brother works for them, and that what ends up happening to him. (cementing crew).
The company I work for, is federal regulated. It's because we have an oilfield side and a freight side.
So that being said, I only get OT after 60/week.
Yes it's not the best, but it works itself out for the amount of 3rd party jobs we get in on. (coil, frac etc) for the big companies. -
They are technically not lying. They can say there is lots of OT but it's already factored into your salary.
Pick your poison, and go with it.
It's The west, it's the patch.
You will make money whether you're hourly or salary.
You are not going to get rich quick though. Time still has to be put in before the rewards start coming. -
what did i get myself into ...

Hi newjob. Got yourself into an amazing learning experience.
Hi YoungBuck & nitrogen. Sounds like Sanjel & CNS have sane & humane approaches to Shop Days.
And the idea of Pick Your Poison. Learn the trade, service the customer. The dollars will come soon enough.oilfield Thanks this. -
i can't afford learning experiences i got 2 little kids

I think the problem lies with the really high cost of living. Even though you make more, you also spend more. Until you are experienced and able to make more, the amount of money that you save is comparable to a lesser paid job in a bigger city. Correct me if I'm wrong

A friendly caution to those with genuine ambition who seek ample overtime. That extra job, working double over-time, or four hours gets you full bonus? It sounds like an on-duty Supervisor may step in the keep us from hurting ourselves and others. These days, as a double-team freight-hauler, I find sleep time most precious.
My first year with Class 1, running back home , just before Christmas. A break between lake-effect squalls resulted in a clear sky west of Sudbury. Plenty of stars above, the boughs of spruce laden with soft, puffy powder. I took a deep sigh of relief. No snow between here and Nairn Centre.
Then the trees became lit with blue & red bulbs. And there was this guy waving me over. It was Elvis doing Valet Parking at the West Sudbury Mall.
I had enough presence of mind to recognize the hallucination, and wake up my partner.
I welcome everybody out there to take the opportunity to pace themselves.
