LTL loads aren't bad...some weeks I pull 2 or 3 of them from Burlington. I have to say that dealing with Burlington has it's pitfalls, but they have tightened up a bit (lots better loading and fewer warehouse-induced OS&D's, though their inane no-reefers-running-against-the-building rule while loading cooler/freezer product on the dry docks is bound to land someone with spoiled product at some point). They do need to do better load planning when putting freezer and cooler stops in a single-temp trailer though...customers do not tend to appreciate having to unload several other customer's merchandise to get to their frozen stuff on the other side of the bulkhead.

They will charge you a little over $3,000 for a refresher course and $4,00 for a newbie. I think they also pro~rate you on how long you were there.

No pro-rate. If you complete school, quit after 11 mos, they charge you all of the tuition.

You'll be a week behind me! I just started FFE training on monday. I'll say what, the homework your recruiter sends you...DO IT. It will save you time and much much aggravation. I know it's alot, but trust me. Passed all five tests the first time, wasn't that hard. My biggest piece of advise is to study. Don't let what these guys are sayin on here dissuade you. FFE is what it is. It's a great company for inexperienced drivers to start at. They have a hell of a training program. The miles/pay isn't great, but most of the people here at the academy have no experience(So what do you expect) and the grass is always greener someplace else lol.

My recruiter never gave me homework:biggrin_25510:. It was the lady who handles the bus tickets that told me what sections of the handbook to study.

me and playmaker do not fallow the thread anymore really. me and him now work for a different company. he is off the road and works the office here at design transport. will not go into the details as to y eather of us left so we are not bad mouthing the company. the problems we had do not change the fact that the school and the company(as far as for a new to driving or returning to the road) are good. i iwll let him know you asked about him though fancypants. i remeber you talking to him on here for a while a year or so ago and hope all is good. if you want to send him a pm and i will tell him to check his inbox

well headed to edwardsville so i was challenged on hours all week and still got a little over 3000 miles this week that ltl load i took into ohio didnt use many hrs in 3 days it took it was nice that week because it got me ahead a little bit on hours --- wich i used up fast lol but they started coming back last 3 days so was limited quite a bit -- but it worked out --- i like the people net e-logs as long as it says i got hours -- but when it says i dont its a piece of !@##$$% -- ran into 1 of my classmates that i dont keep in contact with and he went through a bad stretch and was thinking of quitting but talked with mark grey and it seemed to help out -- and ran into a couple from class that are running team linehauls and they are doing great averaging over a grand a week--- i am not sure why some people seem not get the miles and some do --- i dont even know if anybody upstairs even knows who i am -- including my dm --- but i just do my job and it seems to be working out fine-- well heading home for 4 or 5 days towards end of next week splitting it between 2 pay periods -- hope to get 2400 on each side that may be hard to do lol --- well it will be nice having a reset at least for the first 6 days lol -- i was getting a drive by once a week or so untill last 3 weeks -- just had about 8 allmosts -- 60-80 miles from home 6 times i think and allways on my 10 hour except girl friends work scedule kept us from getting together --- was in florida last weekend have 2 brothers and my dad live about an hour and half from dundee that didnt work out either
