ive filled out apps that ask about being arrested and i always put no even though i was when i was eighteen. as far as the pot thing if you werent convicted i wouldnt worry about it. i thought i had a possesion charge dropped. i never put anyting about it on my apps and it never came up until recently. im going to orientation tomorrow and they called friday and said it came up on criminal background check. i thought it was odd because i had two other trucking jobs and it never came up and they were big companies. but like i said dont worry about the pot thing. as for getting training..iv talked to so many drivers who paid 5000$+ for their cdl. i would never sign a contract to get training through a company for free. when i went to school i paid 1800 and was working less than a month after school. even if you have to leave your state you could pay 1800 for school and stay in a hotel and still spend way less than 5000. there are good companies out there that will hire you after school and pay u decently. i went to covenant(big mistake) then went to btc to retrain and was making really good money for the experience i had. good luck to you, just thought id throw in my .02
