Many of them are head hunters for a bunch of different companies.....That is why they want all of your info before they tell you who they are trying to hire for.

My Company was looking for one driver. Not sure if they have picked an applicant yet but here is the ad,
The pay rate in the ad is way low...we average around 60k a year.
Home every weekend, assigned trucks you take home and i usually get a night during the week at home too.

boyd2187 Thanks this. -
Thats what c-list is around here just a bunch of head hunters....Most of the time they are recruiting for the mega fleets....I NEVER give out any info up front if I call one of those adds..They will pass around your info to every other bottom feeder in the industry..
Lets face it if a company needs a head hunting service they probably have a huge turnover and that tells me enough right there.. -
Just talked to the boss and we need a driver ASAP....
-
I was looking. At the qualifications u have to have at least 3 years exp
I only have 2 -
They may still consider you if you have a clean MVR.
You will have to go out on a couple short training trips......no big deal.
I will most likely be the guy training the new driver. -
How are the miles
-
Been on the road and forgot my laptop...
The lowest week i have ever had was 1800 miles.
We get paid for weight hauled on top of mileage pay.
Just the weight pay can be 150 to 180 a truck load.
I have made 500 bucks in a day to run a load that was heavy...not over gross but we get up around 79800 lbs.
I ran 4 runs this week,GA,TN and AL. I got about 2900 miles and weight pay for 4 loads....It should work out to about a 1500 dollar week.
The dedicated account we deliver for is getting ready to double in size so we will be really busy. -
When I was a company driver, I worked for a company that would give my truck away every time I too more than a day off. Come back to work and all my gear is packed into a box. You ask about slipseating and they say no. The first time this happened, I was pissed. The second time (I went to my grandmother's funeral), I put my gear in my pickup and drove home. The company kept calling and asking when I was coming back to work. I told them I would come back when I got my truck back. I would ask about slipseating definitely.
Another thing that concerns me is I like a strong truck. And I do not think that bigtruck dragracing is safe. Think having a wimpy truck is dangerous on the bigroad? Its lethal on the 2 lanes. Imagine having some farmer going down a two lane in a 20 ft wide tractor and your gutless truck cant get around him. Been there. Done that. I swear I wont do it again. I know that most of your company trucks will be around 430-455 HP. Thats fine as long as theyre left to factory specs. When the beancounters put their engine programs in, and cut a truck more than 10% from factory specs, expect to spend alot of time in a shop. It will be extremely sickly.
Pay. Do they have direct deposit? Do they pay every week? What's the average take home pay for the drivers?
Freight lanes. If you dont like running the northeast or west coast or Canada, you'd better ask where the primary freight lane is. Some companies wont hire you as a company driver unless you can run Canada. Dont be one of those people that take a 30 hour busride to an orientation and take an immediate 30 hour busride back home. If you have a felony or child support, this counts you out.
Do your homework before taking to the recruiters if you can, because a recruiter's job is to blow sunshine in your behind. See if you can find a driver that you can talk to...but even then be cautious. I talked to a driver and he was telling me about his company. I asked him what motor did he have in his truck and he said, "It's a 6 cylinder!" I'm old school. If a driver cant tell me what engine he has in his rig, I really cant bring myself to listen to anything he says.
Someone may ask, "What difference does engine info make?" As I said, most company trucks are going to be around 430 to 455 HP from the factory with a 9 speed tranny. Your serious companies are going to run 470-500 HP with 10speeds and 13s. Even if governed at 65mph, a 500 HP truck is going to be worlds more fun to drive than a 430.
Hometime. If you dont ask about it, theyre not going to offer.
If you are owner operator, you should know how to make money by now. You want to be on a percentage contract so you can work smarter, not harder.
Trailer. If you are going to use the company trailer, how much will it cost compared to you going out and getting your own? Whats the pay difference? How long do you have to wait to get your money after delivery? Fuel taxes, base plates, permits, escorts....etc. is that included? Dispatcher or load boards? Are you married to a trailer?
Theres a bunch more questions that should be asked, but thats all I have for now.
