I'm interested in the Averitt local gig. What's the pay and what's the mile radius from the terminal you run out of? The nearest terminal to me is Jackson,TN.
Averitt local drivers, how's your day?

Good luck on starting out local. Those jobs are usually bid on by Truckload drivers when one opens up. Local means local and shuttle drivers run out to another terminal and back within eleven hours or less.
Averitt created what they call Combo position which means you could work dock, city or shuttle at any given time unless you are on a solid bid run. Hourly pay tops out at around $22 and shuttle drivers get .47 cpm.
There's a better chance of moving into a good gig at bigger yards like Memphis or Atlanta than it is in the smaller places. -
Check the Averitt carreers website and look at combo. You may have to start out "part time" but that's mainly to see if you can hang. I went combo in Houston and haven't looked back. I run all over Houston and the surrounding areas. They usually find a part of the city for you to get familiar with and tend to send you in that direction more often than not. I usually work about 12 hours a day.

How often do you do dock work? Do you get paid by miles or hours?
-
Dock work depends on the location and how many dock guys show up for work. I've not worked the dock yet but it all pays combo guys the same per hour.

Actually here its 20.50 for combo and 48cpm for shuttle
...I'm pretty sure that's company wide.
