Do you know of any good companies in ND that will work with a single driver that has his own authority? Been pulling hopper for the past few years other than one where I yanked tank(animal fats, greases and lignin liquor). I have had it with long haul fighting with brokers and traders over rates. Most of the companies up there that I have talked to want me to drive their truck under their authority. My problem is that I have a 2010 with 200,000 miles on it and will loose my tail if I sell it now.

I have a friend that hauls for a bulk tanker company. They quit hauling fracking sand. If Obama gets reelected you are going to see oil and fracking die hard.

I applied to a fracking company. (GoFrack) They have been on a hiring freeze for months. Another friend maintains equipment for the same company. (SureFire) They have shut down sites in OH, and WV.

Mr Easy Rider; I have a 407 crude trailer I'm hauling water with. I'm sure I will have freezing issues do you know of a way to avoid this on a gear driven trailer? any help would be greatly appreciated, I found a good company to work fordon't want to lose an opportunity because of equipment issues. I've heard of drivers using some sort of heating system and insulation around the pump and valve I haven't been able to really find anything specific to that application online.

I forgot all about this thread and I got a sub notice that some one posted and figured I would chime in.

    Ill be short.
I applied several places and approved by all. But no one would put their money were their mouth was.
Finally I found a oo who offered to pay my plane fair and also give me a guarantee of 2000$ a week. As long as I was available to work 7 days a week 14 hours a day. That's doesn't mean I actuall worked that. Some times I sat for hours doing nothing after sleeping all night.
So I flew out and orientation for 3 days. Training and ride along for 3 days and shadow someone for 3 days. Then I was off hauling crude around Stanley,
williston and tioga. I did that for 9 weeks straight and one week off and 7 weeks again. 7 days a week.
I made more then my guarantee every week. Some weeks were almost double. Crazy money. But lots of hours, dirty work, and ###### living conditions. But you would be amazed what someone will do for that kind of money.

I saved my money and tried to go home and buy my own truck again and bring it out here. But things didn't come toghter. So I just took 3 months off and didn't do a thing expect watch tv and eat and enjoy showers lol.
And of course beer. Lol. I gained 35 lbs In 3 months. Lol. But I also lost 40 lbs out here in that 3 months. Two words: stair master. Lol of u will haul crude u will know what I mean. Lolo

Now im back but this time hauling sand. My old spot was filled and I figured I would try something diffrent. Something less stressful as oil hauling.

So now I'm hauling frac sand. Total different environment, rules and regs. Much less stressful thus easier on the blood pressure.

I I have see. Things here I never thought I would see in trucking. Like big money. But I also see more stupid and dangerous fools then any were else. I have been passed while doing 75 as if I was standing still. By trucks running in groups. I have see drunk truckers and idiots who just plain have no business driving. I have also seen very smart people who made LOTS of money out here and paid trucks and houses off and work 3 days a week back home to do something.

I have see accidents I wouldn't wish on anyone, crude truck hit by a hot oil truck then hit by two pick ups. All cought fire and 3 died and the fire burned for 5 hours. There was nothing left of any of them.
I have seen trucks on their side or in a ditch more then I can count.
Driven down some roads with a 105500k 8 axel tanker that I wouldnt try with a pick up lol.

Its a a diffrent world altogether here. It attracts all kinds of people. Good and bad.
I can say this for sure. If u think its hard to work now for 3k a month then don't come up here. Cause once u get a taste of 10k a month, u will not be able to step backward with out a serious bad attitude at your new job.
All you will think is how to get back here.
I see it all the time. Guys leave and come back cause the money is stupid here.

Me personally, I am going to try again this spring to buy a truck. I don't want to buy a truck and bring it out here in the middle of winter for a laundry list of reasons. So back to being a company man. Which ain't bad at all out here.

Last time I lived in the truck 24/7.
Now I'm put up in a 30 foot travel trailer that's nicer then my home lol.
And my house ain't ##### by any means.

I could go on and on for hours about this place. So I will spare you and say this. Read what has been posted here and ask questions. Cause I have watched guys drive out or fly and train out here only to quit after they spent one day at the company more less in the field.

Its dirty work. It's long hours and you have to be carefull cause there are a #### ton of guys here who will lie to your face and not pay you after you worked.
There are lots of fly by nights. Specially on the Indian reservation. You can throw your self in the snake pit there for sure.
Lots has changed in the last 6 months since I got here. Crude has slowed and lots of pipe lines are in place, big companies are trying their best to cut rates and hire people for 1500$ a week before taxs.

I would t come out here and go thru this life style for a dime under 2000k a week min with a chance to make more. That's just my two cents.

Biggest problem I have run into out here is the others on the roads. Lots of drunks. Very little to no lawmen around. And if your mouth is loud chances are you will find someone who is stupid enough to get phsyical with you. If u end up on some road in bfe and a few f u's go across the radio keep in mind there isn't help for awhile.
So if you come out , let the idiots be idiots and stay professional. No matter how hard it is. Stay away from the oil field gohssip as best you can.
And do not go thinking your a big shot and go drinking at a local hole in the wall bar in bfe. Lol cause chances are you will see a few fights.
Local bars are magnets for trouble. I have watched a drunk girl play bumper cars in the parking lot as she tried to walk straight to get behind the wheel. And no one said anything. In matter of fact some were laughing at her. She just drove away. I did to hear anyone say call the cops.

Things that stick in my mind out here is the possibilities to make a change in your life are awesome. If it's for the better or the worse, it's up to you.

You can make money and build a great rep out here or you can be the guy everyone says he is trouble and stay away. Its a small world out here and guys are always changing companies for what ever reason. Trun over is high and egos are also high. One dispatcher leaves and he could take 4/9 drivers with him to the new places.

Like everything in life there is good and bad but here it is amplified because of the level of money involved, the remoteness of the place, the small population, and the pure greed that drives people out here.

So if you come out here and think you know anything, forget it. You will be amazed at what you don't know once your out here. Be humble and stay focused on work and why your here and your chances increase for the better.

Most of all and I can not say this enough, drive safe. Drive like u still have an eobr on board. These guys come out here and they act like dogs of a chain. Speed like idiots and zero respect for others.

Remeber et that its a very small world out here and don't forget that a mistake could cause someone their life out here. Weather at a well site or on the roads. Be safe and don't shoot yourself in the foot just cause you want that extra load. There is a time and place to make money. This is the place and this is the time if u have a cdl. But if it's your time is up to you.

Anyway its almost my turn to load, I am picking up sand and taking it to a active frack site. So it will be a long night and day tomorrow.
I wish who ever reads this and decids to come out here, good luck and bring lots of warm clothes in the winter and big spray in the summer lol

For now I Couldn't even say how long I will last. I miss my family,
dog and house very day. Specially now that it's the holidays. I had to work 15 hours on thanks giving. And will probaly work they Christmas and New Years.
Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
The rest will happen if its ment to be.

The feeling of getting In your car and driving back home to your comfort zone never leaves you out here. But if live here and made a life fore yourself here then you got it made. Or if u can deal with the away time then again you got it made.

Good of luck to who ever has the itch for the oil field and don't sit there and think about it. Be about it. Go scratch it and say u did that and been there. That's what drove me over the edge to come here. I just wanted that extra shirt. Plus I can't stand routine jobs or routine life. It's just to depressing for me. Makes me feel like a hamster on a wheel. This place will make u feel like a dog chasing a big bone lol. That's more my style of living.

I just hope hope I can chew this bastered and not break my teeth ;)

yeah this thread is pretty old now, some of the info is outdated but much of it still holds true. im no longer hauling water doing the o/o thing now hauling gravel.

I always tell people that your connections and reputation means everything in the oilfield. Iv got at-least a half dozen people offering me jobs for the winter months when gravel is slow. but im really hoping just to take some time off threw the slow months. spend some time fixing up the truck and getting ready for next season. iv been hard at it for a few years now i could use a break...lol
