I am sure the good lord will be able to talk with him. May he rest in peace and his family get the understanding and support they will need at this sad time.

I live in this area and so this hits close to home with me. There are narrow sections of road thru here in the construction areas. Walls on both sides. I really don't know why drivers need to hammer down thru here. I've got family that drive thru here daily. Some of them are teens. Please drivers, slow it down. It's not a game where we are pretending to impress others with your fast truck.

See it way too often in construction. Too close and too fast.

It is appalling to see some of the comments made in this thread. To sit here and say that it was another poorly trained foreigner from croatia, and not knowing their surroundings? Poor guy now he is going to have a preventable accident with fatality on his record?

First of all a person lost their life!!!! Show some compassion to this drivers family..he lives in America (don't judge someone's last name because it has a foreign spelling. There are alot of individuals whose parents came over here from different countries, and their children were born in America making them American citizens. You are making a wide assumption, and it is unfair and cruel.

Yes this driver did make a mistake..and it cost him his life and it injured another driver. It will not go on the injured drivers record because he had his hazards on and was slowing down due to the construction zone which means it was not a preventable accident that caused a fatality. There was nothing stating anything about texting...but drivers who do mess with their phones will get caught and face the fine.

What you should be doing is praying for both families involved in this accident because one lost their loved one and one is seriously injured. May God give comfort and peace to this persons family as they have lost their loved one, and I pray that you watch over the other driver that was injured. I pray that he recuperates, and doesn't have lasting injuries.

I see this all the time and hope I don't get involved because some of these drivers can't read or don't care.

Unfortunately, all of you that say this will not be on the surviving driver's record are wrong!!! It is a glitch in the CSA 'system'. Anytime you are involved in a 'reportable' accident it goes on your record. It does not specify if you were at fault, if it was preventable, etc.

Yes it is a reportable accident because of being towed away, but it will state on the record that the driver was not at fault and not cited. It will not go on his record showing that he personally was at fault and caused an accident with a fatality.

Now when my husband was rear ended by a 4 wheeler who was talking on her cell phone, it did not go on his CSA because it was not towed away, no citations given, and it was clearly not his fault. I think that is what the others are trying to say is that it will not be held against this driver because it was not his own personal fault.

A similer situation happened a week or so ago in WY by a man from Croatia. He NEVER hit his brakes and killed a man and woman and their 2 small children. All HE said is that he wanted an interpreter. THAT might be the reason the person said that. This is happening more and more to our industry. This is very sad, cause its costing too many people their lives. And EVERYONE has the right to complain and voice their opinion. Positive or negative? Doesnt matter... How do think that family of 4's family is going to think about the trucking industry? They have their right to think the way they do. WE are the trucking industry's image in how we drive and present ourselves everyday. Be safe out there drivers.
