Didn't want this to end up being about racial.profiling. Was I profiled? Probably. My truck and trailer has the Hispanic surname Munoz and El Paso, TX under it. Other than a short inconvenient delay, I have no.problem with what happened, here's why; Its a known fact that there are fly by night El Paso based carriers putting drivers on the road who are not qualified to drive. Either because they lack a valid CDL, medical card, can't speak English well enough to communicate effectively with law enforcement or don't have the proper work visas. They don't keep proper logbooks, if at all. They figure if they only operate in Texas they can stay under the radar.
I don't mind a short stop.like that if it helps keep shady operators off the road.
They see me rollin...they hatin....

Oh good, the seond post and the race card is already being played, nice.Pilot1 Thanks this. -
And the card game is on! "The term is called racial profiling"......What would you have said if the DPS officer had brown skin? Your answer?? Also; I live in TX; and have been pulled over by the "tahoe boys". I'm quite sure he never said that he pulled me over because of my skin color! They randomly check papers; not skin color...Unless your suspex.

If I remember correctly, the uniforms are the same, but the shoulder patches vary. Don't remember which color is which anymore, just don't get that way enough.
Ah! Here ya go: http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/texas-dps-shoulder-patch-collection-20-items -
If I'm not mistaken - the guys in the F-150's; you see them mostly around Ft. Worth and along us287 and I-35.
-
Some of the city Dot cops have the F 150's around Dallas and Houston area. Have seen some troopers with F 150's as well. Some of the Tahoe's have K9 Units. Munoz has been around along time. They run those large cars up and down 20 all the time.
We all are profiled to Cops(truckers) its easy income for the state. They have to pay 4 those Tahoe's somehow. Those guys are pretty good at what they do as well. I was running down 27 coming up on Lubbock. I picked up in Cactus and I was either going to San Antonio or Laredo but I didn't scale out because there are no scales houses to worry about. The DOT cop pulled me over and asked if I was loaded because my tandems were either real far up or far back can't remember. So he took me to the grain elevator and wrote me up for being over weight on axle. Think is was a 200 dollar ticket. Which could of been avoided if I would of scaled the load for 7 dollars. You live and learn. They have a job to do. Just as we have a job to do. So if we keep our nose cleaned we don't have nothing to worry about. Until next time. Watch out for those Bears in the Airrrrrr. -
Ok gotta jump in here--I am in the rio grand valley quite frequently--the Tx DPS has been o a tear EVERYWHERE since the speed limits were raised--especially on the stretches of Non Interstate highways w/70+mph speedlimits. Almost all of them will DOT you if they want. Now having said that--Considering I have been stopped and had stuff checked a dozen times this year--I am having a very hard buying this whole profiling thing--I am obviously white--in a VERY WELL KEPT shiny chicken truck--and have had very clear mix of officers--or all races--and by the way ALL VERY professional about it. As for the poster who mentioned hispanic name of company--I dare say in many parts of Tx your company name is the norm and not the exception--there are days I feel I am the only non-hispanic named truck on the road down there--LOL--not that I care or it matters! I could go on and on--but I think y'all get my point--this was just a routine deal--that goes on all the time---now if DPS would only concentrate on the "real problem" down there--all the clowns involved in all the new oilfield work in S. Tx--it is the #### wild west all of a sudden and I dare say about 75% of them have no business on a skateboard let alone a very OVERWEIGHT big truck!
just my $.02 -
Not to mention most federal leo's are sociopaths...look at the idiocy the TSA pulls..., from my experience, state troopers are far better trained and more civil, except for the occasional gung-ho rookie cop.
