I am on just such a load... coming off home time, tell them I will be ready at 5 am... call them at 8 to remind them. At 11:10 I get dispatched for a load that picks up at 10:00, it's 2 1/2 hrs away... two drops one at 6:00 am and one at 11:30...
So late for pick up now so I am waiting my turn... not sure when I'll get out of here, only 330 miles to first drop. If I get out of here in the next xouple of hours I can make the drive with my hours today. Problem is I. Have no Idea if I can take my 10 there or not, and I can't get through on the number given...
So do I chance it to be on time? Or make sure I don't run out of hours and deliver late? 2nd stop is late no matter which way I go... have to take a 10.
Harris Teeter in Greensboro, NC... anyone know anything about them? -
Got a good number for them finally... so the first drop will be on time... the 2nd? Not happening unless someone snuck a flux capacitor in here while I was off.
TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
It's a shame Stevens doesn't try to keep drivers. But I guess when u have 50 newbies coming in each week they Don't care.
nascarchuck Thanks this. -
Sorry to hear that it didnt work out for you Vegas.
How much experience do you have now?
The double deducted me before. I know that wasnt the negative paycheck that I got but I think that it was one of the real low ones.
I think that its a crock of krap that they are so strict on the HOS but then they are charging the driver for a tow. If I remember right, when I was towed in Robert, LA is was either a $350 or $450 bill for a 5 mile tow.
<sarcasm>Just another way to retain drivers... </sarcasm> -
Hubby has been with Stevens for 4 1/2 years, I have been with them for 2+. Our DM, Cat, and several other people know that we are leaving when the lease is up and no one has said a word to us about staying. I'm sure we will get the whole, "what can we do to convince you to stay" when we go to turn in the truck. By that time it will be too late because we will have other jobs lined up.
Like Emulsified says, they are reactive, not proactive. -
Explain this one. Hub miles 550. Paid miles 490. Variance .01
Another example of screwed pay. Followed recommended route. No stops. A to b. -
I'll have 6 months when I leave. If I stay any longer I'll be living in a box on the side of the road for hometime.
-
Your preaching to the choir buddy...
Look at Schneider because there are some positions there that they will hire at 6 months. I THINK that Prime and Maverick will as well. Oh, Averitt was setting me up for orientation so they hire at 6 months too.
Best of luck! -
Thanks.
