Hello,
Just wanted to get some experiences of recent and possible current attendees of RDTC. What was the hotel like? What is in the area ( food/dept store wise)?
How were the instructors and how many people were/are in your class? Were/are you overall satisfied with the training? Any responses would be appreciated!
Thanks!
RDTC recent or current students. Seeking information please.

The hotel you get what you pay for. Its alright not great their wifi sucks. Plenty of places to eat good food everywhere walmart just down the road from the hotel. The instructors i had were awesome more than willing to joke around and have fun. our class started with Nine but two people were gone by the end. One never showed up the other got booted for reasons i rather not say on the intraweb.
Overall it was a very good esperiance. Learned alot but also had alot of fun, -
I just graduated a week ago...the hotel is decent, but like jmorgn said don't hope to get much use out of the wifi there...its really bad! Everything you need is within walking distance, Walmart about a half mile down the road, Target across the street, There is a grocery store right next door that is 24 hours, they have a farmers market in the parking lot Saturdays and Sundays with some fresh baked goods and fresh veggies. There are several of the popular resturants within walking distance (Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Arbys, McDonalds, etc.) My class started with 6 but we lost one on the second day....dosn't really matter what for. I enjoyed the training, its fast paced, you should be driving on first day but the first day is mostly drug test and physical.
You will see some instructors will "bark" at you for every little mistake you make, some will just let you drive and get the hang of it....ultimately they both just want to make sure you get what they are trying to teach so just dont take it personal and do your best!
At the end of the three weeks if you are doing Flatbed they will transport you down to Gary for securement training and put you up in a hotel Friday, Saturday, And Sunday night. -
When attended orientation for Roehl back in 1994 they put us up in a place called the Star Light Inn or Motel I don't remember exactly. It was a few starts short of being a five start joint that was for sure. I remember it was ran by an old man and his wife I think. I wonder if it is still in business.
Treefork Thanks this. -
I believe it's still there. I think a large Indian family owns (and lives in) and operates it now.
