Dot physical

It's my understanding that hair samples can go back a long ways, if they so choose to. So, yes it would show up. Hair samples are not required under a DOT physical, but certain companies raise the "bar of qualification" for their drivers.

 

Hair tests go back as long as your hair has been in your head, vary few companies hair test because it costs alot more then pee.

 

Not only will it show up in a hair test it will show up in a urine test 30 days on average. If you want to get in this business you have to give it up all together. One wreck not even your fault and your world will turn upside down. Drug test are separate from the physical. You have pre-employment, post-accident, random, reasonable suspicion, return to duty and follow up testing.

 

BY all means, please feel free to stay out of the profession. If you even have to worry about something like that, I dont want you driving next to me. Or anyone else for that matter

 

You better wait 6 months and start over.

When it comes right down to it, truck drivers need to work on becoming the HEALTHIEST of all people. In addition to being totally drug and alcohol free, truck drivers NEED to have every aspect of their bodies in the best possible health for the safety of both the individual truck drivers and the other motorists on the highway.

It is EXTREMELY SAD to say this, however, there are a number of truck drivers that need to be taken out from behind the steering wheels of their trucks until they show much improvement, all the way around, on their health. THIS REALLY IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ALL CONCERNED!

I myself am struggling with all this to eventually be able to enter the truck driving business as a solo OTR driver. Currently, I am working to get my blood pressure and weight down to where it is supposed to be. It will take awhile, but HOPE to eventually get there.

That's a little misleading. Although the hair tests CAN go back years the lab will only certify and attest to the last 90 day window. In addition, the lab only uses the very first inch from your scalp. That being said, the pot will show up in the hair and probably in the urine.
