Received a QC message about fuel cap locks. Seems that one of our L/O's ran into an $8000 repair bill and was down for 3 weeks to repair his truck...... someone put a bunch of ashes, cigarette butts, and trash into his fuel tanks. Don't know what kind of ####### would do that, but it seems that Prime is being targeted by a disgruntled driver or three.
Hope good drivers look out for crap like this and report it.

Wow,not a big fan of prime or there drivers(ones I have seen are real jerks)not all of them but the most of them still they don't deserve that hope they catch the guy and idk what just bs to do that
-
if they catch this person should shove same stuff down there throat followed with just a little diesel
BoyWander Thanks this. -
Wouldn't be the first time. Had someone throw a molotov ####tail in a trailer through an unlocked inspection door... trailer and load were total losses. Yet another good reason to use those locks all the time!
-
If that person paid 8k to have the repairs someone was fleecing him or her, fuel filters would have caught it and maybe had the engine stop but 8k?
-
It would have been the engine and truck manufacturer. Sounds like fuel lines and maybe injectors as well...
-
Why smokers are hazardous....
-
Possible but very unlikely, the filters would stop sediment.
even with todays sensitive fuel systems the chance of 8k worth of damage from trash is highly unlikely. -
Wouldn't insurance cover vandalism?
-
There are a lot of expensive parts before you hit the fuel filters. At the very least you need to check/replace the crossover lines and valves, the pickups, pickup lines and valves, the fuel line to the fuel pump, maybe the pump itself, then the line to the filters. And clean out the tanks, and dispose of the contaminated fuel.
If your are paying $120 hour for shop time, plus parts and fees 8K sounds pretty close. Some of the truck dealers are getting $160-180 which would push up the cost even more.
