I think to bounce enough to land on top of a building it probably needed to be inflated. They roll a lot better that way.

There's no way one rim would come off without the other. It had to be a flat that rolled off the rim.
The driver did the right thing. They can track a tire to it's purchase by the stamped # on the side.
Then if you tried to hide it you would be in much bigger trouble. They'd probably charge you with leaving the scene of an accident and it would buy you jail time.TRKRSHONEY and Travelinman Thank this. -
That's what I'm saying. The tire popped and came offCondoCruiser Thanks this.

I would prefer the honest driver. In a general case, anyone who is honest. It's rare enough it seems to find an honest man. With some people, the truth or the correct result is arrived at only in a very corkscrew-like manner.

that dont look right!! where is the inside rim and tire? looks like it was singled out. which in my opinion means to cheap to do it right!!
-
Looks like the hub and drum all attached to the wheel.
I would say bearing failure. They singled it out so it might have been on a lift axle..
Just thinking that looking at the pic.
Glad nobody was hurt bad,as it could of killed some one -
glad that thing didnt kill somebody
-
could of been. but when i had a lift axle on my dump yers ago we would flip wheel around so it wouldnt put an uneven load on bearings
-
I have never seen a wheel bearing failure without it smoking like crazy, the wheel bearing gets loose and relaxes allowing the axle to rest on the brake shoes, which get hot and start smoking, usually someone around you lets you know about that. That is a miracle that more weren't maimed or killed.
