Currently driving for a reefer company, that's all they run. Not really have the greatest experience with them. Looking to get into driving either flatbed or tanker, currently looking into Melton. I only have 3 months experience, and I'm only 21. But if anyone knows a good company for either flatbed or tanker please let me know, even if I don't have the experience right now I'd like to know for future referencethanks in advance and stay safe out there.

systemtransport.com (flatbed)
tankstar.com (tanker)
artransport.com (tanker)
bulkmatic.com (tanker)
fairchildfreight.com (reefer-lower 48/Canada/Alaska)
qualitydistribution.com (tanker)
meltontruck.com (flatbed)

TMC does only flatbed..they are very good and very strict with the guidelines..once you get your seat time if you want to go flatbed give them a call. I think its a year OTR of experience. As for tanker I would go with A & R..Very good company to work for,,the pay scale is decent and the equipment from both companies i mentioned is very nice..well kept trucks. Mostly Peterbilts..

A&r wants 3 years otr experience and 25 years old I think I read... But superior and carry transit train and are decent outfits.

Superior & Carry require you to be 23.
I think age is going to be the biggest hangup on the tank side. You may want to check Schneider, I'm not sure what their minimum age is or if Tucson is in their hiring area. -
IMHO--stay where you are and got some experience driving for starters--keep your nose and your record clean! While you are out and about talk to drivers that do this kind of work and get a real understanding of what is required--the grass is always greener--there are drawbacks/!advantages to everything--but rest assured--pulling a flat is nothing like pulling an icebox! and pulling a tank is a whole different world--and of course there are many different types of tanks and products in them...
Just my $.02 -
If you want to get out of reefer, go to flats first. Nothing really teaches respect for your cargo like knowing it will kill you if -you- don't secure it correctly. This will be valuable when and if you want to take up tanker. Both force you to be a better driver than van or reefer, in my opinion.

Tucson is not a great area for tanks unless you are going to try a stint at gas hauling. Not much tank work chemcial wise in or around the Tucson area.

Try Swift. Theyre based out of Phoenix. They will teach you the basics of flatbedding, and their flatbed trucks, (the Freightliners) actually pull pretty well.
