What would you consider 'junk' trucks? I hauled for Loblaws for about a year and finally had enough of their BS. Not just WHSE transfers either. Pick up at the DC on 72 Ave CGY and sometimes have 7 or 8 stops at different superstore's in BC...what a bunch of bull tryin to make it work with the store's schedule as they dont all recieve overnight...

10spd sterlings with small cat motors. Small sleepers too but I don't mind since I'm home every other night just about and weekends.

Most of the time the bananas are pretty quick. The slowest was the mixed produce. It used to take a full 24 hours to do a load from Leamington to Cambridge. Total waste of time. I avoid them as much as possible now. Their freight isn't the greatest paying, it is slow paying, and going there sucks. They are a last resort.

Hmmm...well maybe you dont realize how good you have it there Nate. A Sterling to my knowledge was created around 12-15 years ago, when every truck had standard power steering, A/C, air ride suspention, and a syncromech tranny. I might consider 'some' trucks that didnt have ALL those options junk, but the trucks built within the last 25 years or so are pretty nice compared to what you could be driving. Also, the small sleeper you have, is it not good enough because you need a 70"+ shack to live in one or two nights a week?? Small Cat motor? Im not sure it should be considered small unless you are draggin trains with less than 300 HP, which was done back in the day. I have a truck with a 400 HP C-12 hauling tridems everyday and it does exactly what I want it to do for me - get great fuel economy, less tire wear from less torque, and it still gets me to where I want to go maybe 5 mins behind the guy with a C-15.

So what are the other reasons that these trucks are junk?? There has to be something...or if it was your company and you were there to make a proffit, what would you be buying for fleet trucks??

Ac would have been nice in the summer but they finally found the problem back in September lol. These motors are def not saving them any fuel combined with a 10spd in the mountains. I run 1700rpm at 100km/h and it eats almost 400l's from kamloops to Calgary. 260 from delta to kamloops. And I'm only 72000lbs doing 30k up the smasher while my friends fully loaded tridem does 55. Beats me to Calgary by an hour and half. Lets just say its a good thing I make a high mileage rate and paid by the hour for breakdowns or I wouldn't be here lol. And like I said, small sleeper doesn't bother me since I lived in one 6 days a week for 3 months.

company makes money because they get paid so well to deliver these cars but there always in and out of bankruptcy thanks to the head office down south.
