Does anyone know if I would need a Motor Carrier number to be a broker agent for a company?

If you book freight under the companies name then you don't need broker authority. If you book freight under your own name then you will need broker authority. It sounds like you are talking about having a dispatch service rather than being a broker. If that is the case, then you don't need broker authority.
