I found a Sealy 4 inch memory foam topper at Walmart that includes a washable zip on cover.
I put it on the bed then doubled a nice microfiber comforter over that....sleeps great.
Best 79 bucks i have spent on the truck!48Packard, Wargames and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
Not all trucks will accommodate a twin size mattress width. Measure before you buy .. kinda hard to squish a 39 inch mattress into a 32 or 35 inch slot.

That reminds me of when I was a kid, an older mechanic was telling me about the truck that I would be driving and he started talking about the brakes, and I can still hear him say "if they don't stop you the first time PUMP EM AGAIN".x#1 Thanks this.

get a hammock, hooked up where the top bunk (in a condo sleeper!) goes.
and on nice nights, can rig it up under the trailer -
Man, those things are priceless! Wife bought one for our bed at home, making me have to get one for the truck. And I agree...best money I've spent in trucking!

Is the "mattress" in question really a mattress or one of those thick blue pads that they call a "mattress"?
If it is a mattress:
I went to Kohl's and bought a "memory foam 4 in w/ down comfort pad". it was a little on the pricy side, but WELL worth it. For any new teams out there, this thick pad also helps with all the bouncing and jostling.
Also, don't underestimate the value of really comfortable sheets (a size bigger than need be, so they will fit over the thickness of the pad), blanket and pillows. I spent close to 300 dollars to get ours the way it is and haven't regretted it once, (except when I had to pay for it all and when he asked how much it all was lol).
If it was up to my husband it would have been a sleeping bag back there. He almost blew a gasket when I bought all that stuff, but now he can't sleep anywhere but the truck. He even takes the pillow with him whenever we are out of the truck.
Don't skimp on your bedding, it is the only rest and relaxation you will get OTR.Numb, x#1, FEELTHEWHEEL and 1 other person Thank this.
