I just got a job as a Frac Water Heating Unit Operator / Swamper. I just recently received my class 1 so will be swamping starting out to gain experience on the unit. I'm a pretty small guy and haven't hit the weights in a long time. How physical is this type of work?
Any insight on the job would be a great help guys.
Awesome forum, thanks to those who post their experience on here!

LOL!!!!! I needed a good laugh!! Why did you sign up for a job that you have absolutely NO idea about??
-
That's what I was going to say yesterday but decided to be nice lol^ but yes I agree. Shoulda done the research beforehand. You almost screw an employer over in a way if you end up hating the job and quitting since you didn't know anything about it beforehand.
-
Yep...and when you screw an employer in the 'patch' then word spreads like wildfire...hope he likes his new job and can put up with lots since he had no idea what hes getting into...
Wont gain much of any experience on that job as far as your license goes...better bring your Ipad with lots of movies or alotta books to read... -
I researched, I understand the job, and the basics of the work.
I was looking for personal insight or experience in that particular field, not ######## comments.
I thought this forum was better than that? -
O sorry did we hurt your feelings? From your original post you didn't sound like you knew anything about it.

"How physical is this type of work?" ...shows that you have no idea so how can you say that you researched, understand the job, and the basics of it if you are asking this type of question??? This forum is better in the sense that it is very quick to get the morons weeded out...

I don't think the job requires to much effort. Initially hooking up hoses to tanks can be a pain in the butt, but you'll probably get the hang of that after a bit. Some of the tank farms on the larger fracs can be a pain. 50 or more tanks. The biggest problem you will probably find is boredom.Lot's of ### time waiting on tanks to heat up. Very little driving involved. Learning how to operate the hot oiler or super heater, which ever kind of equipment you are on could be quite interesting though.
