Especially now that at least two of them were involved in rollovers and their careers are short lived...

It wouldn't be near as dangerous, if everyone didn't try racing through there....truck and car alike. I've never see as many clowns as I do now days, trying to pass in construction, regardless of how tight the road is.
-
Never mind racing through there....how about racing to beat all the big trucks into there? Day doesn't go by without some jerk in a car just beatin' it to get in front of me or other trucks into a single-lane work zone....chico9696, dieselmama, NavigatorWife and 1 other person Thank this.

I agree with danc694u.
Anymore, the trucks are getting just as bad as the cars. It is just like they want to be out in front.
I think they should put cameras up and record the actions of both.dancnoone and TRKRSHONEY Thank this. -
Even if a vehicle stops suddenly, if you are not following to close, you should be able to stop in time also. The only reason the drivers had to swerve to avoid the truck stopping is simply from following too close. I do not understand why drivers have the need to follow so close to trucks or other vehicles. This is the third story I seen linked on this forum in a week that is due to drivers tailgating.
I had a driver on my rear end this morning so close that I couldn't see his headlights. He had ample opportunity to pass me but never did. After five miles or so I just braked...not hard but enough....he then backed off. Simply stupid for drivers to have this habit.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Four wheelers are going to act stupid, drive reckless around big trucks. That's just a fact of life. But we are suppose to be "professional". That means we are suppose to deal with that and react in a safe manner. Make up for their stupidity and ignorance.
Yet so many drivers act just like the ignorant arses in four wheelers.NavigatorWife and TRKRSHONEY Thank this. -
I don't know much about the area, but that looks like a horrific accident. I am greatfull that no one lost their life.

With all due respect to those replying, this particular location (one of a few sections remaining between Salado and Hillsboro) has no construction barriers on the main lanes yet. And barriers or not, I agree with all of these comments....seems everyone's in such a hurry these days no matter where you go, and will risk life and limb to get 10 feet ahead of you. So sad......and the day I have to be in that big of a hurry is the day I hang it up!!! Be safe!!!!

Thanks Chico. You are absolutely correct, today it seems as if people are in A heated rush, many times to get to A red light etc. . In an earlier post I showed A bias in favor of the truckers involved in the accident being discussed. It was pointed out to me , quite correctly , that the trucks were laying on their sides , an indication of excessive speed and swerving to avoid collision due to their following too close. The 2 "biggies" involved in the large scale demolition projects such as this one. I 77 North bound ends in Cleveland , Ohio ; splits off to I 90 East ( and West ) with morning rush hour traffic fighting for entry into the 1 , left lane east bound. I hang way back , observing the 55 speed limit, maybe less. On several occasions I witnessed , from A distance , the chain reaction of the 75 mph herd rear ending each other in rapid succession. Ii is quite A site ! The dust and car parts exploding up into the air , almost like A machine gun firing 20 , 25 rounds ! Time to exit 77 and detour A way through downtown , pick up I 90 further east . Speed and tailgating , A sudden reduction from 4 or 5 lanes to the "one" all the commuters want. Truckers included, it seem the younger " cowboys " gotta' be the lead dog. Because I drive the truck, and do compensate for the 4 wheelers dumb, arrogant antics I am biased. An earlier post reminded me of an old adage : They , the 4 wheelers are A fact of life. They will do the unexpected, break the law and violate every rule for courtesy and chivalry on the road ; and the " professional " truck driver will remain polite and compensate for the stupidity of others. Thanks to all for the heads-up refresher course !
allniter, NavigatorWife and chico9696 Thank this.
