You've got a load that pays OK.
You've also got a some deck open and there's also a partial if you want it. Theres no big rush on the original load. It only adds a few hundred extra miles to your trip.

But the partial won't be ready for 2 days.

How much does it have to pay to make it worthwhile?

    And the survey says?

Stay in the area gathering additional partials leaving deck space for the final, then head out.

Easy, does the added revenue of the partial more than compensate for the revenue lost from not sitting around? Probably not.

That assumes that your primary load gets you back you back into a good freight area. Let's use some numbers. For example, if your average revenue is $1000/day the partial needs to pay at least that to make waiting 1 day worth your while.

In short, partials are partials. In general, it's not good practice to run out of route to get them. If they're on the way, okay. Partials IMO are less than 5000 pounds and use less than 10 ft of space. Otherwise you're looking a TL rate or slightly discounted.

You'll have time to fatten that load up with a little luck.

Need more info. How many miles is the original run ? How many miles is the partial from origin to destination ? What are the dimensions and weight ? Are there any timing issues on the delivery (such as the first stop delivers in the afternoon and the second stop is only 100 miles away but you have to wait til the next day) ?

Concerning waiting 2 days, Do you need a 34 restart or for some other reason want to take the 2 days off ?

    SHC Thanks this.

If the partial is paying pretty good, say $600-800/day then I would probably wait on it.
