200 grand! Let's see...after expenses and the various fees CRE extracts from the soul of the driver, that leaves....carry the two.....

    $3.18.

i am nothing more than a mere wannabe... but i have done a lot of research, i been wanting to get into trucking for years now and trucking is in my blood, i would have to say prime inc is the best starter company if they hire you...

    1. 3500$ upfront for your cdl is still cheaper or at par than most schools. free if you stay 1yr
    2. i like how they take you out on the road and teach you the otr lifestyle as well as driving/backing into truckstops/customers instead of a range with cones.
    3. you get paid 600$ per week training which is more than any other starter company
    4. you make .39 cpm when you go solo on a small truck, the most i seen of any starter company (swift pays .25, cre pays .26, FFE pays .29, roehl .32) you get the idea
    5. all trucks have apu/inverter unlike swift/werner

im not saying prime inc is perfect, but from what i gathered they are good.

I agree, my buddy I went to high school with got his cdl through prime. He likes it there. I'm just not willing to be in a 48" sleeper unless its a long nose Pete in front of it haha.

To reply to pinball wiz and drtydiesel, What I like about FFE... Is that their school is free if I stay with them for a year and they're not taking any money from me every week to pay for the schooling and the weekly pay during the six weeks with the trainer is $455, which I can deal with. Then when I start solo it's .29 cpm and even if I get 1500 mi. a week it'll still be around 350 after taxes which I can survive with for a year, I know It sucks and I'm going to be living on crumbs for a year but what I'm trying to focus on is that after a year I'm going to have more opportunities to earn more money, If I keep a "good driving record". I've been seeing that company's start drivers with 1 yr exp. at 40 to 45 cpm. so yeah I know I'm gonna go through some sh!##. In the words of AC/DC It's a long way to the top if you wanna Rock & Roll. I just gotta take a dive in the sh!#* and swim Bro's hahaha! Another thing about company's having a lot of turnovers is exactly that. They don't want to start drivers with good pay so they'll think twice about quitting and take the hell; for example someone earning 350 a week can say I can earn this much at home and be home every night and sleep in my own bed and make love to my wife and take my kids to the ball game. Or a guy earning 1000 or more a week that will take the bull and go home when his time comes capish....

Well roehls school is free after a year too. You also make more during training and start out higher pay. I'm not knocking you, I'm just stating that roehls training pay is decent. The trainees make more than the trainers lol

It's true!!!! But sounds like people are going to FFE( yuck) or Prime so they can " be an independent contractor" going 60 mph down the road. haha:biggrin_2559:

I'm serious, if I were green and needed to do the whole CDL school thing with a company I'd do it with Roehl. I know some people who have worked there and were treated like human beings. That's more important than money when you're trying to figure all this stuff out.

From the threads on the roehl forum of people going through rdtc they make sure you know how to drive that truck instead of just warming the seat.

Ok pete1 I'm going to research roehl to see what they have going on thanks, do you have more info you can share on them? And I don't want to be a O/O so I'm just searching for an outfit I can stay with long term, I don't want to be jumping around to different Co's every three months you know. So if Roehl kicks everybody's ### that's we're I want to be. Help a brother out and I'll also spread the message. Thanks
