hi,
I would like to know do i have to log when i get scale done on a load.
It usually takes less then 15 minutes. I hear different things that i don't have to log on a logbook if it's less then 15 minutes.
Someone told me i only need to draw a line without taking the time to show for scale. I'm not sure what is the regulation by DOT. Scale tickets usually only have a date and not time. I usually put scale done on my trip sheet expense report, can dot ask to match the scale ticket date by logbook date , if so then do i need to show that i stopped to get scale done ? Thanks
logbook question

395.8 Interpretations Question 1: How should a change of duty status for a short period of time be shown on the drivers record of duty status?
Guidance: Short periods of time (less than 15 minutes) may be identified by drawing a line from the appropriate on-duty (not driving) or driving line to the remarks section and entering the amount of time, such as 6 minutes, and the geographic location of the duty status change. -
My company has us put it in line 4 otherwise we don't get paid back for the scale ticket.
-
so you lose 15 minutes of drive time?
-
log whatever your company wants you to log, what do they say ??
If your an O/O don't log anything.
yes DOT can match them up if they want, don't show them the scale ticket..volvodriver01 and snowblind Thank this. -
Line 4 has nothing to do with drive time, last I checked.otherhalftw Thanks this.
-
exactly, it takes up on-duty, not driving (14hr/70hr) time

sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssshhh, don't tell anybody..volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
only way i see the 15 minutes eating into the 11 hour drive time is if you logged more than 3 hours on-duty time.
