Technically NO! Unless you are actively participating in the unload, or supervising the work. Any time counting boxes, shrink wrapping, or doing something that is a part of the load/unload. Otherwise, if the sum total of your "work" is opening the doors, bumping the dock, taking your bills inside...then the actual time used to accomplish these tasks is Line 4 On Duty not Driving. Don't forget to include enough time to close your doors when they are done and you have pulled out of the dock. And double technical...the time it took you to back in, plus the time to pull out...is actually Line 3....after all, you are "driving"!

If its under 7.5 minutes, flag it (if its a company requirement to show scaling), if its over 7.5 then use the 15 minutes then log in as on duty. It won't hurt.. honest.

I don't know man, when I'm at a terminal or at my house working on my truck that is off duty. It may not be legal, but it's how I will log it. I refuse to burn my 70 or start my 14 when I'm home or at a terminal unless it is pre/post trip or fueling. Just ain't gonna happen for me.

When I'm home and I wanna wash my truck and detail it I'm not about to log 6 hours on duty for that. I wash my truck the day before I launch.

I'm not bashing you by any means, all I'm saying is that there are certain times when I log what's best for me. Don't confuse that with logging illegally or driving over my hours if I were on paper. I don't condone that, but when it comes to on duty-not driving, I limit my logs.

Honestly man, I don't believe it should be mandatory, it should be optional. I know we've gone back and forth on the e log threads, but I do not believe in making independent owner ops buy a black box.

You're not too smart Ethan. You just admitted on a completely open public forum that you falsify your logs. I'd delete that right now, because a jury will eat that crap up!
