    Hello All,

I am a new broker in need of some advice. I have contacted a shipper that ships a LTL 8-12 pallets of strawberries at 34 degrees from Mission, TX to Salinas, CA 1-3 times per week. I usually deal with loads from CA to NJ,PA, NC, MD, VA and back to CA or AZ. The problem is I am trying to incorporate that Texas Shipment because I feel like they are a great contact. The shipper also told me that after dealing with me for a couple months with this lane she will offer me more lanes from the west coast to the east and that is what I am interested in. What can I do in order to make this worth while.

    Thank you

Find some other freight that can be shipped with the berries. They may have some other stuff themselves, but berries usually just ship with berries. Not much else can ship at that temp (my hubby runs reefer and has run berries plenty from FL and TX). Another option is to try and find another shipper in that area that has the same freight. That's a good area for stuff coming in from Mexico since it is right on the border. My hubby is sitting in that area getting unloaded as I type this.

Thank you for the Response! If he is interested in this load I can get some details and let you guys know. But the shipper said that it would be 1-3 times per week starting in December to the end of January.

He's not an O/O, but a company driver, and he doesn't do CA anyway. He said that you can put citrus on with berries, as that usually runs about the same temp. Otherwise, you can find some dry freight that won't be affected by the temp.

Look for consolidation opportunities. They are out there. Check with distribution centers and places like Americold for leads.
