never heard of a heated wiper.
but you can buy one of them small 12 volt heaters to put in your windshield. help the defroster out. when trying to get the windshield warm so the snow melts instead of freezing on the blades. -
Everblades - The Hot Ones
I've used these and like them well enough. They will get hot really fast (you'll burn your hand if you hold on to long.) They're pricey so take them off in the summer to get more mileage out of them.
I had one set several years ago on a truck with slight curvatures on the windshields. Due to the curve the wiper wouldn't clear it and ice would build up and be a PITA. I recommend going with a smaller blade to avoid it going out on any curvatures.
Between the wipers and defrost in any normal situation they'll work great. Get in a serious heavy ice / snowfall and they are still better than a non heated one IMO.
Edit: Unless he sold out the guy that designed and sells these is from the UP in Michigan. On the truck with curved windshield he sent me several different size blades until I found one I was happy with. He never billed me any extra either. That was about 3-4 years ago. Good people and solid customer service from them at that time.psychocreep and LodiKen Thank this. -
I have never seen 12v window heaters. anyone know a brand name I can look up?
-
you can buy those window heaters at any truckstop.
i had a some peices left over from a rear window defroster kit i put on my car. car didn't come with rear defrost.
i put 2 lines on the windshield. if that don't work i'm gonna order them everblades.
thanks for the infor ukumf. never knew such a thing existed.Ukumfe Thanks this. -
How about sticking those lines to the metal part of the wiper itself and running wires to them?
-
har har. har.
-
You can also use a rear window defroster kit on the windshield. Put the wire anywhere the wiper don't go.
-
Why laugh? Freezing rain or wet snow will ice up the wiper blades and make them bow and lift from the window surface. Heating the windshield won't fix that problem, but heating the blades will.
