Please sign this petition, and share this link everywhere you can think of. (Facebook, etc.) I didn't start it myself, I'm just passing it along.

    Here's the text:

[h=4]We petition the Obama administration to:[/h] [h=1]Oppose Mandated Electronic Hours of Duty Logging Systems in Commercial Vehicles[/h] Automatic/Electronic On-Board Recorders (EOBRs) in Commercial Motor Vehicles have nothing to do with safety. They are about control. EOBRs give carriers real time, on-demand duty status updates. Carriers can and do pressure drivers on loads, regardless of whether drivers feel safe, rested and ready to drive. EOBR is a tool carriers use for that purpose.
Nobody wants safe roads more than truckers. They want to deliver vital freight as safely and efficiently as possible. EOBRs run contrary to this due to the pressure to keep moving despite safety concerns, including weather, traffic or fatigue.
Small trucking companies run on shoestring budgets. A mandate that costs $5,000 per unit will put many of these family outfits out of business. USDOT and FMCSA can't afford to fund them all either.

EOBRs are nothing but babysitters for the mega fleets because they can't even teach them how to fill out a logbook. OF course, now, they'll be able to manipulate the E-logs to keep driver's moving.

Anybody want to bet that fatiugue related accidents will go up?

In my opinion mandatory EOBR on the Truck should happen with a mandatory Salary for Drivers no more mileage. If they have everything figured out to the minute so perfect on the nations interstates and Shipper/consignee.Then they can put it in the dispatchers lap and we work our hours and earn a salary the same every week.

The Fed's have already asked for driver input & got very little response except from OOIDA. It's too late now to change it. They are coming.
