Wrong. In 1935 congress exempted truckers from OT regs. Yourcompany can pay straight time for all hours worked. Unions are another story and some outfits will pay overtime but
    they don't have to.

Overtime pay equals more employees, less hours and layoffs

My company didn't pay overtime, now it does. The reason? The revolving door on the HR department.

Still just cause they now offer it, doesn't mean you'll actually see it on payday. The pay here is so weird, with hours, miles, commissions, per diems and reimbursements, no matter how you figure what you SHOULD get, you get less.

I'm not looking up and posting links but ot pay even varies within companies by location. At Con-way, which used to be separate regional companies, which I miss, pay scales and ot pay varied by region and still does. I'm at an "X" terminal which is the old CCX so I get ot at 8/40 and my pay rates are the highest in the company. Old CSE terminals down south get ot at 10/50. I'm not sure about old CWX. When I was running P&D even some of the better union companies were ot only after 40 ot at 9/45.

And it would take people like us to get them to remove the exemption. If we don't fight for our rights we lose them.

I work in Birmingham local LTL and no one in our company gets overtime mechanics, dock workers nor secretary's. Some of our competitors get overtime but get their hours cut all the time. I get a steady 50-55 hours a week with no lay offs when its slow. After talking with guys like fed-ex and ups-freight I usually have a larger w2 at the end of the year.

Uphill battle, been bills introduced several times over the years and caught by the lobbyists and killed just like FSC mandatory pass thru. ATA and other groupies have college kids sitting around all day reading new bills ( and now using software looking for key words ) hunting for such stuff.

Been doing some reading on house and senate procedures and there doesn't seem to be a way short of having what we want buried deep in some pork project in several different bills. One would be bound to get through to the floor but then there is the lobbyists...... so there would have to be a vote when the bill is read.

You would need to abolish the entire FLSA bill without saying so and not using the acronym.

Tell you what, I'll run for congress in '16, get your buds and vote me in and I'll take care of it....deal? Chalupa for congress......has a ring to it, ya?

    Whatcha think?
