Hello all, got home yesterday at 6pm. I left the house at 5am this morning to get my last 2 drops off and was back home at 9:30. I got my reload info for Monday. I need to deadhead to Greenville SC for a drop and hook going to Mountain Top Pa for Tuesday. My run back home is loading as usual on Wednesday. The good thing about it is my first stop will be open earlier Wednesday night. Instead of the usual midnight, they are opening at 8pm. That means I'll be home around 2pm on Thanksgiving to have dinner with my wife and family. Not the perfect scenario, but one I can live with.
When I took this run back in July I knew that this would happen, my run loads at 6am and 8am every Wednesday. If you take into consideration all the good about this run, I will gratefully accept this. Christmas works out good this year for me and my run. I will leave out of Pa on the 19th, be home on the 20th, finish unloading on the 21st then be home for Christmas. I then start my vacation for 2 weeks and leave on an 11 night cruise on the 31st.
With a grandchild, life has a different meaning, my wife is understanding about it, at least I will be home for most of the holiday. Being home every Thursday right at 6pm, home in my bed every week for 4 nights, what has turned out to be a 12% raise, the positive far outweighs the negative. I'm just thankful and grateful about this job I have.

I gave you guys a big thumbs up on the camaraderie it seems you all have there at Calex. Sounds like a place that rewards guys with can do attitudes. All except the equipment part of , the Volvo to W-9 John , I hope that thing isn't gonna nickel and dime you to death. Time is money and as you explained when you go down for a few hrs or more , it's likely to take a bite out of your mileage. Any chance they hire in N.E.Kentucky along the AA hwy near Portsmouth Oh?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. If you're home enjoy your turkey, if you're on the road be safe. I'll be home at 3:30, just in time to eat with the family. My 4 year old grandson told his grandmother no one is allowed to eat until pop pop gets home. Amazing how a 4 year old can make 9 people wait to eat until the big turkey shows up.
