heating the windshield WILL fix the problem. it'll keep the snow from accumulation. just like it melts on the rear window.
you put the defroster on the inside. just like the rear window.
yesterday i was walking into mcdonalds and i noticed a toyota in the drive through. that actually has a factory installed front windshield defroster grid.
so apparently the idea is legit and being used. -
you guys know this one ???

Even lower tech.... all those de-icing washer fluids just have rubbing alchol in them. Go buy a bottle at the dollar store and mix it with just 1/4 bottle to a full resivor. MUCH cheaper and works greatLodiKen Thanks this.

COme on Snowwy, you should know that using the windshiled defroster just causes the snow to stick to the window and ice up in anything under 10*. If you leave the window defroster off, the snow will not stick and just blow off and over the windshield. Learned that trick in ND while driving I-80 at -38*, old timer I was running with told me the tip, and it works.
I didn't believe him either till i tried it.j3411, skellr, windsmith and 1 other person Thank this. -
i dn't really see that happening. considering that the snow builds up. freezes. and also causes the windshield to fog up.
don't buy that at all. -
its true, having the defroster on makes it worse.cold windshields stuff blows off.must of ran into same oldtimer lol
j3411 Thanks this. -
It does work, but it has to be pretty cold. I use the bunk heater only when trying to accomplish this. As we all know there are many days ya just have to deal with the elements the best we can.SHC Thanks this.

It does really work, just can't have any heat on the windshield. If the window is as cold as the outside it will not melt and just blow off and not stick. It gets a little cold in the cab, but if it's snowing bad enough to keep freezing up my windshild, I'd rather be a little cold than deal with not being able to see. Just dress accordingly in the winter time and it's not so bad (hence no sandals and shorts LOL)

The Cascadia I drive runs the AC for the defrost vents and still pumps heat out of the other vents. Sounds reasonable to me.
