My partner and I have been over the US for a year now, and we need a new adventure. We both discussed renewing our passports to run Canada. But is it worth it? I haven't ran into any other drivers that run Canada. If you're out there please share if you think it's worth the time and money getting a passport, and having to deal with Poe across the borders.
Thanks in advance
Canada runs worth it?

I run SK, AB and BC It's another dime a mile for me to run to Canada. As for crossing the border it's no big thing if you have all your paper work ready when yo get to the window..
Puppage Thanks this. -
More miles, and make sure you have your paperwork and a great GPS with an option to change MPH to KPM.
-
Remember to fax your paperwork before getting to the border or you'll have a long day ahead of you.

You can cross several times and never have a problem. Then one time you're forced into a little white room while the US Customs and Border Protection nazis trash your truck and copy the hard drives of your phones, tablet, and laptop to their government computer. All the while they're threatening you with arrest. And when they're done, they'll act like your friend, you'll pay them their 10.75 for the pleasure, and you can be on your way back into your own country. For me, being treated like a terrorist for trying to come home isn't worth the extra pay.

I've crossed the border hundreds of times in the past six years, never had a problem.

It is the sum of a lot of little things. You may get a good paying load to Edmonton, but then what? Deadheading back to Seattle sure can kill a good paying load. Will your carrier be able to reload you when you get empty? It's not too bad if you unload in the Toronto/Montreal areas and are close to the border to come back into the states for another load.
Is your truck governed at 65mph for Ontario and Quebec? How is your French if you are going to Quebec?
Depending on your phone carrier and plan, you may be paying very high per minute charges for calls, and obscene rates for data. -

Something kind of funny is, France uses the english word STOP on their stop signs, yet Quebec has be different and use Arret, lol
