What can i say but it sounds like a kind of windy story to me

Hurricane is the absolute worst of the worst. Hands down. I know a lot of these threads are by disgruntled drivers who didn't get their way, or guys who don't know how to work. You can make almost anywhere and make it work to your advantage. This company is notorious for its underhanded and shady practices. Stay away from Hurricane. Far away.

I called them once, a few years ago, and as soon as they realized I knew a little bit about trucking, and leasing (I did lease/buy a brand new Century through ATS, paid in full in '05), they hung up on me, LOL!
-
Is the Hurricane Express in Arkansas the same company as the one in Oklahoma or different?
-
They are in Siloam Springs/Concord, OK. I just called them to see what they had to say. They are an O/O, L/P operation only. Now GET THIS!!! They are getting 30 NEW Pete 386's. Here's the breakdown directly from the horse's mouth....
TRUCK PAYMENT: $105.00 PER DAY! (every day your under a load or dispatched)
IFTA, TIRE ACCOUNT and REPAIR ACCT, ETC: $35.00 PER DAY! (same as above)
TRIPAK: $15.00 PER DAY! (same criteria as above)
TOTAL = $155.00 PER DAY while dispatched on a load.
TIME OUT = 4 - 6 weeks! HOME TIME: 2 - 4 days (if you live in AR or OK, you may get "through the house" more often).... yeah, right! They run primarily I-40 to CA and back to East Coast and A LOT of NYC and New England.
So, let's assume you are out for 30 days, then home for 2. In that time period (to be fair) let's say you "sat" not being dispatched for 4 days. That would then make the "dispatched" days = 26. So, 26 X's $155.00 = $4030.00!!! Not including FUEL, etc.
I told him that that was extremely expensive. Then the guy (Eddie) had the audacity to say, "If you can find a better deal than what we offer for a better price, I'll buy everyone of them you can find." I told him about a friend of mine with Hills Bros. and what he was paying (apple for apple) and that his bring home (gross) averages $1100-$1200 per week. There was a moment of "duh" silence, then "Eddie" said that their drivers gross bring home is between $700 - $1600 per week according to their running habits, etc. I said to Eddie, they bring in that much even with having to pay $4000.00 a month??? I should have asked him how many miles a week they averaged, but never got to that point... I just told him thanks, and hung up. But I suppose (and can almost guarantee) they are another outlaw company that will soon be out on their ear, change their name, and swindle more drivers out of their monies.
So... my honest opinion .... STAY THE HECK AWAY!!! -
From their testimonials page: left Hurricane and came back. Does this tell you anything- I love it here

You know, I really REALLY hate when people say "oh, they're just in it for themselves" - this entire ECONOMY revolves around this very idiom, and has caused this country to be very prosperous. So please, do not criticize someone for being in business for themselves - that is the whole #### point of business. I'm not saying they are good people to work for, I'm just saying, don't criticize someone for not being your socialist #####.
jinxutoo001 and exhausted379 Thank this. -
You sign a contract to haul freight, with specific language on your revenue, and do your part and make good on delivery..!
But when it's time to "pay up" it's a long winded story, which your waiting for you revenue..?
Then your expected to keep going, as it will get straighten out by your next "pay day"...?
There's no other way to look at it, cause folks who run business like that on a consistent basis "ARE IN IT FOR THEMSELVES".....!
They "rip off" every driver that works for them, and don't care....!
The closing of Hostess...?
I thought it was "The Union" for not going along with another "pay cut" to keep working...?
I get emails from "Mov.org"...The media didn't report the whole story, just the report that made union workers look bad.
Check it out for yourself...the company wanted the 8 % cut in pay and 32 % cut in benefit payments, while the CEO gave himself a 300% PAY RAISE...?
The executives received a 60 to 100% raise after the 2nd Bankruptcy was filed..!
Hostess owes over 160,000,000 to the employee pension plan, yet the 18,000 who lost their jobs were at fault for going on strike...?
So tell me driver who's in it for themselves now...? LOL
It was time for Hostess to close the doors...!bsmoove, average joe, poppapump1332 and 1 other person Thank this.
