I would like to put my $.02 on Tim Conner. I am currently an OTR driver with Watkins & Shepard and a former corporate trainer in another field.
I chose OTR as an economical decision to feed my family and pay the high cost of living in NJ. Subsequently, I had the opportunity to attend the Watkins & Shepard orientation in Conover, North Carolina. This is Tim's location and he has a staff of two additional trainers, Matt and RL and receives help from Vern up in Sayreville.
All four men are quality people with a big responsibility to both Watkins & Shepard and the public.
Why do I say they are quality people? Great question.
The Watkins & Shepard orientation is challenging, as it should be. Tim, RL, Vern and Matt bring years of experience to the table and impart their knowledge on you. They teach you the things you do not learn in CDL school that you truly need to know to be successful on the road. And this is what separates them from their peers in other organizations: a dedication to supporting your efforts as a participant. If you demonstrate a desire to grasp the material, they are there for you. While I did not need the level of support that others required, I recognized it and thought very highly of these guys.
This is all to say that if you are serious about trucking, you more than likely will do very well in the Watkins & Shepard orientation in Conover, NC.
Thanks,
Steve Nelson
