I've been searching around and looking at used flatbeds (48x102 Alumnium and Combo) and have been shocked to see that most of them go for about the same price as a new one. Here's some examples I found:
2008 Reitenour Maximiser All Alumnium $28,500
2002 Fontaine Combo $22,000
2009 Benson All Allumnium $28,900
2006 Reintnour Combo $25,000
How many of you have bought used trailers in the last year and were they close to these numbers??
How many bought NEW trailers and the numbers??
Used trailer prices ???

If you are looking at truckpaper.com or truckertotrucker.com you can expect to see those kind of prices. There are much better deals out there.
-
Are you looking nationwide or just a particular region? The southeast tends to have better prices overall. Trailers hold their value much better than tractors. Sometimes you can score a deal at an auction, but that is hit or miss.
The Challenger Thanks this. -
Think that's bad. I saw on truck paper a guy has a used 13 axle for sale and wants like 340K for it.
When I bought mine new in 08 I paid 268K Same specs
Got it sold finally. Broke even. No fire sale for all that was going on and still is.SHC Thanks this. -
I have been looking mainly around the Midwest region. I was just shocked that used trailers are going for a little less than brand new ones.

Yep, I'm looking at buying another trl after the first of the year. Just depends on the other bussiness I'm looking at the S.E. Asia home do not pan out.
Looking at buying a stretch as I like pulling this one. Problem is they think they are made of gold... -
SHC,
I was looking at trailers for my curiousity and found the same thing. I take it you found some of those at Lyons?? Personally, it looks financing a new trailer would be worth it with those prices you mentioned.
KH -
Yeah, I looked at Lyons and 2 other places in IL mainly because I know the owners personally. They told me that used prices are WAY up and they are selling them.
I can get a brand new Revolution for a hair over $32k thru Landstar -
i was looking for a used van
'99 garbage was selling for $5k
i had a guy completely refurbish my '01 for half that -
Is that financed or cash money if you do not mind me asking?? If it were the latter, would LS consider financing??
