Thank you Vinsanity maybe I will see you out there. I have some questions with me being 6'4ish 6'5 are the trucks ok size. Like I said I want to do teams. Is it better to try and find someone? My class of three one went to the oil fields right away and the other hasn't passed yet either. They said something about having to be within 50 miles of where I live. actaully I am not tied down to really any family and I want to run hard myself once I get training done. I just want to go till I can't go no more. I guess it might taken them a bit to find someone if I don't have anyone lined up. I have someone in mind but he smokes and I don't. I had a question about that are you allowed to smoke in the truck? I'm not sure I could handle that. he would be a perfect fit not sure what hes doing though. maybe we could work something out.
My plan is to work on all my endorsements till the end of the week and maybe take the tests friday or somethin. I will start to gather the things I need for orientation I haven't called US xpress yet because I am not sure when i want to head where ever they send me. Now they said i might have to go to Dallas but there is a orientation center in Colton, Ca. Why would they send me to Dallas if Colton would be closer? Colton also pays more per day lol anyway.

OK, I've tried replying twice but my connection is lousy. Here goes again, the short version.
I'm 6'3" and have no problems.
Smoking is permitted, but not in the sleeper berth.
USX will find you a team mate, but you'll never know what you'll get. Boy could I tell you some stories. Try asking around during orientation. I love the money and fast pace of teaming. -
You know what?... I'm going to ask to add you in the chance that one day we might actually meet. It is a small world after all and I'm tickled pink that you passed.
My own personal opinion having gone from the 53' to the 48' tanker is that the 53' is slower to react so allows you more time to make corrections... minute ones as you see the trailer moving. Once you get used to the 53' though, parking or alley docking this pup tanker is a breeze. What your teacher told you about the 53's may have some truth to it if your tandems are moved forward... us tanker drivers have fixed tandems (one less headache) and are live loaded (weight distribution?... what's that?). I can haul 53,500 lbs without violating GVWR and guess what?... my axle distribution works beautifully with my 5th wheel all the way back (no hitting the cab with the tanker).
It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood.
Oh,... one other thing (and I love this)... we don't chain with Foodliner... if the roads are slippery, it's our call to park and wait for the road crews to clear the highway of ice, snow and stuck O/O's and Company Drivers.
I think I'm getting spoiled here.

Thanks for all the replies.
I wish there was a post with what all the abbreviations and what they stood for that would be a cool thing for new drivers to have and maybe it does exist I just don't know where it is lol. I can sometimes get what they are saying but other times I am just lost lol.
How is the DOT physical? I saw a good post on what you have to do but I can't remember where it was. I have searched a couple of posts it was buried in one of them just can't remember which one. I do have a green card if that makes any difference. The only thing that might stop me is my BP. Since going to school I have lost a ton(ok maybe not a ton) of weight. I really shouldn't stress over it the hard parts done. I should just stay foucsed on having fun.
anyway I think I will take all my endorsments on Monday Saturday my trainer from school is going to show me the 90 degree parrella I've been in the truck when hes shown other drivers but there isn't anything like doing it for yourself and I could have done it I just didn't want to cut in on the guys time to practice.
I was also wondering if I pass the endorsments and I get them all do I have to wait I read or heard somewhere it might take three weeks for the license to come in the mail? And yes I know that its because of the Hazmat but is it really true it will take that long?
How is the internet access out there? I play games online am I going to get bogged down by the speed of wireless. Whats a good company to go with. O I got a ton of questions and I want to be really prepared before I hit orientation. -
you get up to the Albany terminal at all? My old man is the shop foreman there for food liner.
-
I've been up in the Albany area a couple of times picking up from ADM but have never actually been to the terminal there. What's his first name?... I'll drop in on him the next time I go up that way.

The DOT physical is the same as the one you took when you started school. BP, vision, pee in a cup, etc. USX has you carry some weight, step up on a ladder, do their famous duck walk, etc. It's not a big deal if you are in shape and a normal size.
I'm not sure what state you are in. In Florida they gave me a hard license without the hazmat right away. Then they mailed the one with the endorsement a couple weeks later. I think most states give you something to drive on until the hazmat clears.
I tether my laptop to my Android. I have Sprint with unlimited data. The connection is usually not bad. Not sure if it's good enough for gaming though. Mostly I just surf or watch Netflix or Xfinity.Raydar Thanks this. -
well in shape and normal size is probley a problem I mean I shouldn't have a problem with everything up to the duck walk lol I tried it in my den and while there isn't much space I was able to go about 3 or 4 steps. because I am so tall I am normally on one knee(I know this isn't good I will try hard not to be on my knees while under the truck) anyway but I can do the duckwalk I am sure once I get out on the road I will be losin some weight I lost some while I was in school doin that won't be a problem.
Here is a odd question. how much weight does the top bunk of a truck hold I am close to 350 maybe more not sure, I am not wide I got a stomach on me. I would hate to get a trainer that tells me to take the top bunk I will though knowing my luck. I am sure I could get a stool or somethin to help me up but I know there is limited space and just wondering how much weight it could hold and why would he want to sleep under that lol.
Was also wondering about the drive test. I think I got the whole drive part down its the skills that they might have me do that worries me.
one more thing I keep hearing about wait time. Do you get paid for that wait time?
Update:
Did the 45 degree on sunday. I was able to do it ok there were trailers on both sides but I know they were father apart then they would be normally.
Still working on the hazmat took the test I think the DMV guy check my test with the wrong answers I got way to many wrong and I am pretty sure that I wasn't that bad. maybe I will go get my fingerprints done today. come home and really study. I know there are some good tests on this site I also got some study sheets from the school.Last edited: Dec 4, 2012
