I am from the same area. I live just a couple miles across the river in Illinois. If you ever have any questions please feel free to IM me and I can give you my number. It'd be nice to have some millis drivers from my neck of the woods.

For the guys wanting some in depth reading on how class is up to and including getting your own truck read some of the older threads here. There are a few VERY detailed threads here. Just because they may be a year old don't mean they are not still very relevant. It's all pretty straightforward, apply, get approved, pay money, start class, pay money, listen, listen listen, back up, pull forward, back up pull forward, back up, pull forward, back up, pull forward, go in circles, some more circles, a few more circles, drive on the road, ##### because your clutch leg is sore, more driving, graduate, get with trainer, wish you could sleep, drive, watch him drive, drive, watch him drive, study pre trip, study more pre trip, take cdl test, pass (hopefully), drive your butt off for the last few weeks, test out at one of the schools or black River, get your own truck, be really nervous for the first few weeks, get a lot more comfortable, swing by the schools and talk to the students that are backing up, pulling forward, backing up, pulli.......... You get the idea

Yeah I hear you. You travel through the Stl/Ilinois frequent? -
thanks EMT but if was truely that easy everyone would be doing it. have some commitments before i can go to school and just trying to all the info i can. know what they say knowledge is power, or is that knowledge is dangerous.

G22mac it really is that easy, most people don't want to be away from home 3-6 weeks at a time, or drive a 70 foot semi in Atlanta traffic, or be held to the strict laws, or be treated with no respect on the road others think it's a super hard job so they don't even try. I would say if you can pass a dot physical, pass a background check, and have an acceptable driving record 80% of people could drive a truck after proper training. Maybe not for Millis but there are companies that will hire any warm body that walks in.

i hope you are correct. plan on going to millis in the spring. something i have thought of doing for about 20 years. had a interview with schneider when i got out of the army. they did not like me at the time because i had been charged with( no conviction) DUI 4 years and 11 months prior. said to reapply in 6 months. single now with youngest child 15 in january. can see her with home time just as much as i do anyway. hope it works out as i am looking forward to seeing some of america through a windshield. also hope to use some of my down/hometime to see areas of the country i have not had the chance to explore yet. also hope to find the place i would like to retire to in about 20 to 25 years.
