If you already have your CDL what's the 1500 bucks for ? And... I know you're new and want to get hired but why would agree with that?

Without more info, I'd say the $1500 is for the training your GOING TO GET not for your cdl.
If you quit before it's paid than yes you will owe them and chances are REAL GOOD they'll go after you and collect. $1500 is cheap real cheap! and $28 aweek payback isn't unresonable. If ya do leave them make arrangements to pay them back, they'll work with ya.

How do you figure a company charging the CDL holder for any additional training is "cheap?" A company should PAY the trainee for any training they undergo with the company, not have a new driver pay them. Something isn't right here and I have no idea how you figure this behavior is by any definition "real cheap." Not only is it NOT cheap, it's crooked practice bordering on rip off if what he says is true.

Did you go thru school to get your cdl? Do you have recent experience? If no then maybe thats why they're requiring it. I know most companies require school or a refresher course if the driver has no experience or hasn't driven in a while, say 3 years or more

The putting a new driver or a driver who they say needs a re-fresher course in training I understand.

Companies already make out in these situations as they now have a team truck. Better believe they treat it as such.

To use a driver in this way and get them to pay for that "training" is crazy to say the least.

I agree, since he already has a cdl, he should not being paying them to drive thier truck. If he does need a refresher course I would recommend trying to obtain that independently, as most companies will reimberse you for it anyways then you're not tied to them for a year or more making below standard pay

If you went thru an accredited driving school to get your cdl, you should not be paying any more for training. Actually the normal practice would be them reimbersing you for your school tuition. If thats the case, I would be looking at other employment options. I dont know about Central's policies as I dont drive for them but I've been driving for a little over a year and my employer PAYS ME 50 extra per week as reimbersement for school tuition
