What's the name of the company?
-
if you go with a company with elogs you will never be dispatched to more driving then your HOS permits and will get a 10 hour break every day
I drove 3800 miles last week and still had breaks everydayrbrtwbstr Thanks this. -
3800 miles???? are you sure???? just kidding, but I cant remember the last time I worked that hard lol. most weeks I run about 2000 to 2200 miles. But you do have a very good point on the E-logs, when the clock runs out, the truck stops. At least MOST of the time....
-
well just to be completely forthcoming the 3800 miles was actually 8 days because one load started on a wed and we get paid thursday to thursday
if i dont get 500 miles a day I dont know what to do with myself 6 hours sleep is best I can muster
I drive dispatch crazy delivering loads 24 hours ahead and such
but always legal on HOS -
Yes sir, your right. Hearing myself repeat that advice out loud makes a lot of sense to my ears. I will put that wisdom to use. Thank you.

Well, that is one thing about this company... if you wanna run? Just get behind the wheel. The paper logs and their outlaw attitude you can be the road warrior deluxe? Man you can run non-stop if you can explain the deliveries on the logs. I assume the operating premise is company wide because I seem to be the only one who was always being talked to about my "prudent" driving habits. Always being as much as one driver can be talked to about his driving in that whopping two week period. I was in trouble on my second day solo. They made no reservations about attacking me immediately. I just thought that I was supposed to follow the FMCSA rules, so I did. I am really sort of humored by the fact that I was in trouble for following the rules? If that don't just take the cake I don't know what does. Oh well, I am already feeling better anyhow. I must admit, I was sort of "but hurt" over this, but now? Man, I am just gonna pick up and move on. This too will pass.

My apologies upfront. I respectfully decline to divulge the name of the company. They have quite a sprawling network in the H-Town area? I do not want to hurt my chances of finding another job by trashing the company. At the end of the day, they have their idea of an operation and I will still be a rookie. I harbor no bad feelings toward these people. Just a solid case of confusion, that's it.Lady K Thanks this.

If they are telling you to stay off the interstate to avoid DOT then you did the right thing by quitting IMO. You are only given a few years on this earth and there is absolutely no point in wasting those years...or accumulating CSA demerit points for a company like that. Keep all records from that previous employer. You may need then if they screw your DAC.
Believe it or not, there are some carriers that actually want a professional driver. IMO, by quitting sooner rather than later, you have made yourself more marketable by not accumulating CSA baggage. If you weren't in TX, I would offer you a job.cmc308 Thanks this. -
Yeah, just paper logs at this outfit. I was getting 2000-2500 miles. The picks and drops were just poorly scheduled. The company would take multiple loads off the boards then try to cover them no matter what they had to do. I understand the approach, but, sleep is important. I say that because, I literally had extremely small amounts of sleep. 10 hours off? Are you kidding me... I never had 10 hours off the whole time I worked there. Seriously. Man I was falling asleep at the wheel. The most sleep I got was 6 hours. All other times were 2-4 hours and then sleep while you get loaded or unloaded.
