####### outstanding......not......so much for keeping a low profile lol......this one and the previously mentioned one weren't the only places these comments got picked up that i've been made aware of....although i did not hear this one....i've seen most of the others that were forwarded to me....

20 years spent slogging up and down the east coast playing in a band every weekend trying to make a name for myself and nobody notices.....and i'm a much better musician than forum poster lol.....

then they all notice when I take somebody to task for being stupid

none of these so-called 'journalists' have endeared me to them in the least......none of them actually sought me out to find out the rest of the story or in some cases even print the whole post.....only cherry pick the parts of it that suited their purposes to sensationalize the issue....not like i'm that hard to find given where they pulled the post from

none of them bothered to find out that MY speed in that fog was only 45mph.....with my flashers on......I chose the conservative and safe option as opposed to those flying by me that couldn't see past thier hoods.....not like i'm going to be able to hang with them in a 63mph company truck anyway. my company's position on this (and one of the reasons among many i chose to go with them) mirrors mine....that no load or customer is worth endangering either the public, or yourself, to get there on time.....if conditions warrant it, be late.....it will never, and hasn't been, held against me if i was late due to conditions enroute...

funny most of them also 'forgot' to print the comments i made about having left an hour early due to the forecast conditions....which is just part of good trip planning and a holdover from my days in aviation.....always know the conditions along you route before departure and trip plan accordingly......

but, reporting on someone who is safe and does their due dilligence in trip planning wouldn't be 'news' would it?

####### mororns.....just solidifies my contempt and disdain for most media types even more than it already was......

I-35 is always so bad with all the congestion and it bottlenecks in several spots. Many times traffic comes to a screeching stop!

Oh, and all the cops clocking traffic going thru Austin sometimes seems to make folks slam on their brakes and creates more problems for the guys pulling a heavy load behind them!

All company trucks r meant to be governed at 62 & 60
Most lease are governed to 62 also.
if you have been with company a while like I have, I am governed at 75.
The truck in picture ,(I saw its # on another site) is a full O/O & most likely not governed....

The media will sensationalize a story to sell their product, plain and simple. Even if it means skewing the facts. Which is why many times over I've emailed the author of some really poorly written articles that depict the trucker as evil. Heck even the weather channel has gotten emails from me. Because you don't call a pickup a truck when reporting that someone was killed in a head on. The media has played a very large part in vilifying the truck driver in this country. We all need to call them to task when that happens. Without you guys out there delivering their toys and essentials, they'd have some really stinky rear ends. :biggrin_25525:

Yesterday, right as I was catching up to a CR England, I stopped my 65 mph truck & got off & stopped at a Sapp Bros. I backed into a spot, which was kinda tight & required 2 pull-ups. Then I went inside & took a leak & got some coffee. Then I came back out to the truck, and wrote down my directions because I was starting to get close to the receiver, and I can't read the qualcomm if the truck is moving.

    Then I left.

Now remember, .. this truck I'm in is governed to 65 mph.

It wasn't 10 minutes later I caught up to that same CR England truck & blew his doors off like he was standing still.
