Hazmat paperwork must be within reach of the driver, with the seatbelt fastened. If no one is in the truck, hazmat papers must be in the driver's door pocket, or in the driver's seat. Those are the only requirements for BOLs.
camaro68 Thanks this. -
Read an article a long time ago, that DOT sees a messy dash as a sign of fatigue. After reading that, I keep nothing on the dash.

That's an interesting take on it. I never would have thought of that one. I sometimes wonder how they keep from covering up their defrost vents.

Only thing ever on my dash is a CAT Scale ticket if I am close to gross. That way the scale master see's it.....

Depending on the depth of the debris on the dash you can be ticketed for obstructed vision. Generally if you are ticketed for this violation you have a whole lot of other issues to worry about.

if you cover your defroster vents, then when you need them to defog the wind sheild ,they are inoperable and that is a safety issue.
and that will get you a ticket. -
I keep my BOL in between logbook papers,on my dash, close to me.When I deliver a load,BOL goes to fedex envelope on co-driver's seat,so there's nothing else on the dash but logbook.
