I have a 96 classic. To start the truck i have to turn the key to on, flip and hold the backup alarm switch and push the starter button. This is very annoying to me and i want to cut out the alarm system and make it start like a normal truck. has anyone seen this setup and knows what all is in the system

What a great "anti-theft" device!
-
i tried ro rewire my ignion once n i failed!!!
-
cross the back up alarm wires, or run a second power wire to the hot side of the key
-
So the back up alarm actually goes off when you fire it up?
Is this factory set up or DIY anti-theft dealio?
Is the problem for you the alarm going off or having to hold the switch? -
no just cross the wires at the back up alarm by unhooking it so you will have no back up alarm, you have a rub in the wireing harnes thats why its going off so bypass it
-
it only goes off when starting and back like is suppose to by the order for the truck. i dont want a back alarm and want to start it like a normal classicn turn key push button.......
-
you will fined it to be a ground wire check cab grounds and battery to frame there is a small wire by the starter that goes to the motor this is the ground for some gadges and dash warning lights the conecter may be shot

ok. let me reword this. My truck factory has a backup alarm and is made so you have to push the back up alarm switch to start the motor at which point the alarm would sound. per vin look at at freightliner this is how the truck was ordered. I want to do away with this setup and go to a normal setup. it appear i can do away with it i just need to now where the wiring off the button goes
