There may be... I dont know any... I am a (cute) single female truck driver.... not interested in dating any single male truck driver... I know 4 other single female truck drivers... and they are not interested either. However, I used to know a girl, truck driver, she dated a male truck driver for a while... at the beginning of her trucking career, but it didnt last much....soon they got into conflicts and disagreements and broke up...

I think it's wise to know that the incredible strain a hit and miss long distance relationship can put on a couple would likely tear it apart even when enough time was allowed for the two to reach depth together, but that is highly unlikely due to job demands. Most people, once past their ferocious hormone years want/need something much more than a face value (shallow) figment of the imagination type relationship that always lets them down in some way. Absence does make the heart grow fonder but conditions of the job can easily smother that out over time. When both people in the relationship earn a good living it tends to magnify independence which lessens the need to carry on a relationship with someone you will seldom get to spend time with. You will always be asking yourself is it even worth it? Probably not in most cases for most people. People have a vision of the perfect mate that will never be found, not only because their expectations are too high, but because they don't have the time to. Once they realize this they accept it and are happy on their own.

Great explanation Bender... IMO, truck drivers looking for some more "substantial" dating should look for non-truck drivers and be able to meet their mates often. Long distance dating can be frustrating...

I once knew a truck driver... was just a friend... I wasnt trucking then.... He would visit me once in a while... whenever he went through "my" town and had time to spare. We used to go to clubs... but poor guy... although he wanted to get out of the truck, eat at a nice restaurant, have some entertainment and some social life, he was generally very tired... didnt have more than 12 hrs or so... and then he had to jump back in his truck and hit the road... other times, when he would have more time to spare, I was the busy one and couldnt meet him....

I'm not sure that this strictly applies only to truck drivers. There are many careers where the job rules peoples lives. A person just needs to decide if the sacrifice is worth it in their life. A grand to 1500 a week and a strained or no relationship or 7 to 800 a week, regular schedule and having a life beyond work.

There are also other things to take into consideration. Such as length of time you are planning on doing the OTR bit. If you and your spouse have an agreed on plan, where you are looking at specific goals, it is much easier to deal with a little temporary inconvenience. But if you are a young married couple just starting out, and one of you is going to be gone most of the time, it may well be a rough relationship.
It really is easier on the older, longer married folks, than it is on the younger ones.Rocks Thanks this. -
Thats right Bender.... that is what so many folks dont realize when they enter this industry... and they end up giving up cause they cant even date...
But for folks like myself, loners, who have no family in the country, love solitude and not interested in any dating, it can be great!!
