    Just kinda of a thought

Why isn't this a sticky on every thread or forum , or pre post to a certain amount? Maybe even 'a have to read' within a certain amount of posts before a new member can even post.

Just wondering? what the Upper mangement thought.:biggrin_25522:

If someone is hassling someone on the forum about spelling or grammar, please report the post, so that the staff can take care of it. We don't post that in every sub-forum because it would take up space and soon people wouldn't even read the stickys at the top of each sub-forum.

BHW is so right about ignoring something that you see all the time. Once you become accustomed to seeing a particular sign or whatever, someone could come along and change wording in the sign and the vast majority of folks would never see it. Just human nature.

Why would correcting poor grammar be a negative? Not only does poor grammar absolutely make the person posting look, well, to be nice, ignorant, it also helps them to learn. Grammar absolutely matters in the real world and even though the internets are not the real world, the stupid I've run across in just the few days I've read the forums here is beyond imaginable.

Also, an idea could be not to allow new posters to start new threads. It seems quite a bit of new threads I'm reading make me want to NOT come back to this site because most of these posts seem to be the complainers tearing a company down with the same tired refrain failures often drop.

Example here - in trucker speak - ha, thet cumpany suks. they ai'nt got no respect for drivurs n i ai'nt tellun ya to werk fer em er not werk fer em but what i think is i ai'nt never happy there cuz'n they ai'nt resptfull of what i trie n do fer em. them $#$$##s took my pay from me cuz i said they cood kiss my #$$ n when i left there truck their i was angry'n'er a horndog on a catstail. it aint right they kepted my money evn if i sed they'd be honest wiffin the pay n $%^ when you abamdone they're truck n it aint far.

There seem to be a million "waaaaa" threads and not allowing new posters to clog the forums up with more may actually make the site more readable. And I know Im sort of ranting here, and I know now I should not have expected anything more from a trucker's forum than what I'd hear on the CB on any given night at the W Memphis truck stops, but ####, this is truly terrible. Maybe banning anyone who refuses to use paragraphs, periods, and spell check would help. Maybe not, but from a noob, I say give it a good team try.

Bad grammar doesn't really hurt a community, but people who clearly show contempt towards other members really do. If you want to make this site better, you can start by showing yourself the door.

I agree with Admin....people who complain about spelling and grammar are more of a problem to the site than the folks who are poor at spelling and grammar.
Bottom line....if that sort of stuff bothers you, skip the thread, or just find another site to post on where everyone one is a wordsmith.

Well JohnnyWalker, (if you are still around,) perhaps you need to step back and look at your own post. This forum is a place where everyone who is associated with trucking, (or has been, or would like to be,) can come to, for information sharing, enjoyment and knowledge.

Not all of us have a university degree. In fact, many of us don't have a college degree, and some of us don't have a high school diploma. But what we DO have, is a lifetime of experience. So we give and take, we learn a little, and we teach a little.

And among the things that we learn, is that everyone has something important to give. I agree that good spelling, and good grammar, make a post easier to read, and ideas easier to comprehend. But just because a person does not have these skills, sure doesn't mean that they don't make a positive contribution to this site. And to life in general.

And what good does it do anyone, to put someone down for a lack of sophistication? All it does is make the person doing the put down look like an arrogant snob.

Everyone needs to be tolerant of other people.

I see them on facebook too. Who cares about the spelling and grammar, we are not in school.

I would love to see them banned for it.

O.K.. I'm wondering if you would ever DISAGREE with Admin..? And if so that in and of itself would make a GREAT thread.:biggrin_255: I do hope my (grammar) is correct.

Just a thought. These "people" obsessed with grammar and punctuation sure have a lot to learn.. A lot to learn on how the real World works.. Perhaps these folks should make a career out of entering spelling bee's?

    NDBADLANDS Thanks this.
