I have an idealistic dream about home-time, but I don't want to make waves when things are going well.

Are you allowed to take 'home-time leave' only at your place of residence or can it be wherever and whenever it is convenient/appropriate for the FM to route you?

I would like to use 3 or 4 days or so to hit Breckenridge or Vail when I would be in the area passing through anyway.

    Am I just dreaming?

    cheers

From what I hear you can take your HT pretty much anywhere you want .. just tell them where you want to go a few weeks in advance and they should be able to get you a load close by ... like say Denver or Boulder in this case . then you could take a couple days off secure your truck at a terminal or storage yard.. and rent a car and away you go..

Not dreaming at all... My wife and I plan on taking HT all over the country when we start teaming ...

Our idea is to stop in Dallas and take several days off at a time and fly down to Playa del Carmen, Mexico once or twice a yr.. We plan on staying out 2-3 months at a time and to save up HT days ..

Me, I like to take my hometime at the house, the one that I still have 11 years left of a 30 year mortgage. When we want to see other things that are on our bucket list then we pack our suitcases and get on a plane or ship and leave the truck behind, like we are doing December 31 when we are going on an 11 night cruise to various Caribbean islands.

Many people like the fact that we can take hometime wherever we want. I took HT in Boston for July 4 this year. We do have a drop yard in Denver, which is perfect if you rent a car. Drive up to Vail on Monday or Tuesday and ski the week when it's not so crowded.

Thanks for the warning I was not aware of this .....and IMHO that is BS... I hope not all companies are like that .. if we stay out for 3 months straight we should get the same amount of days off as someone running home to momma every other week.. again this is just my opinion ..

Not many companies will. Maybe smaller carriers. If I were to put a driver in a truck, I might allow the driver to accumulate days off,IF they were productive.

I would think they would rather I take off for a week 1x every 3 months rather than 48hrs every 2 weeks.... it seems to me it would be far cheaper and easier to get me hometime once every few months than to get me there twice a month.. But what do I know =Nothing ;)

they amount of days off remain the same ..

I notice some companies give vacation time like 1 week after a yr...I guess your not allowed to take your week off all at once ?? or do i just get paid for a weeks vacation but I cant actually use it for a vacation ?

Company drivers at Prime accumulate 1 home day per week; they can take 4 days at a stretch (not counting arrival and departure days) every three weeks. They also accumulate a week of vacation time every 125,000 miles - I believe that's after becoming A-seat, solo-qualified. Guys... is this still correct?
