I'm not sure this is in the right place or not but hopefully I can get some answers?
We are hauling hay out of North Dakota going to Nebraska and Colorado, can anyone tell me where the best place to get permit at? Online would be great but every place we call we get told different things. We also haul out of Montana going to Nebraska and Colorado too.
    Any help would be great.

    Thanks in advance

Is this something you are going to be doing regularly ? Most states have a yearly permit, or you can get a single trip permit. usually if you are going to haul two or three loads it's better to just get the yearly permits. Each state is a little different as far as allowed width and heighth with or without the permit. Some allow some exceptions for ag where you can haul over without a permit. you just have to check every state.

here's North Dakota to get you started. - http://www.nd.gov/ndhp/motor-carrier/seasonal-permit

    Thanks Danny,

It seems like that is all there is to haul back out of the North Dakota area is hay, I was hoping there was a online website where we could purchase all the permits but I guess we have to find where in each state? I agree I will get the yearly permits for our trucks beings we are going to haul hay back south as I will haul hay for $2.50 a mile if conditions are right like weather and all otherwise we will just turn and burn back south.

Thanks for the link and do you have a link to the other states as well??

When i went from Houston to Williston North Dakota with Drilling Pipes, Coming out of there with a back haul was hard and Hay was the only loads available. If you dont have a Oversize Permit, you cannot hang over size sign. But a Local driver said that because of the drought, the dot was recognizing the Emergency of hay in the south because of the drought. I never did haul hay out of there but if i were you, i call FEMA for info.
