Actually, Big Mike, I am sitting in the Louisville yard on my 10 and had one of their mechanics look at it. It was a 50 amp breaker blown and was a pain in the rear to replace. Not easy to get to. The good news is that I now have heat - the bad news is that after the mechanic left I discovered my inverter no longer works !!! The problem with being a brand new driver with them is that you get the oldest most worn out pos they have to put you in. So far, I am averaging 1 - 2 truck issues a week. My truck has a home in the service bay on weekends.

After I delivered in Raleigh NC on Monday I was sent to Norfolk VA to pick up a load headed to Blue Ridge Summit, PA. It turns out the consignee was an active mine. Talk about some curvy small back roads getting to the customer. Then about a 12 per cent grade hill going up to the mine. UGH. After that I went to Carlisle, PA with a load headed to Columbus OH that I delivered today. Then off to Salem OH to pick up a load going to Bristol VA. They told me the load would not be ready until 5pm. I called the customer and told him I would be there by around 1pm and could I park on the property while I waited. He said I was welcome to. When I got there he said that they had gotten the load ready and I got loaded in about 45 minutes. Put a pretty good dent in the run to Bristol. 520 miles today alone.

Now it's off to bed. I will be legal to run at 0300 and I will peel off the rest of this trip then. I hope all is well in your world!

Did you try the breaker switch on your inverter? Mine pops off from time to time and I have to reset the breaker and then it works fine.

Remember this...the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Keep on your FM about getting a newer truck. They come available every week, man. I ran into a five week student who got upgraded to a 2011 Volvo after 8 weeks solo because he kept on his FM about it. Nag em like you are their mother in law bro! LOL

I can't speak for other drivers - only of my own personal experience with Averitt. I personally believe they are about as good as a trucking company can get. By no means perfect - but as good as you can get. I think a lot of it has to do with the area you are based out of and your fleet manager you get. Without looking, I think I ended up last week with around 2300 - 2400 miles. This week, as I sit here, I am at 1637 paid miles and am shortly leaving on an 837 mile run to Texas. That will put me at 2474 miles plus the distance from there back to Birmingham. That will put me at around 3000 paid miles for the week. I am not representing that this mileage is typical - i'm just stating what I am doing at this time. I think about two weeks ago I only had around 2250 miles. Of course, it doesn't hurt starting your week off with a nearly 870 mile run up north and another nearly 840 mile run out to Texas.

The problem is that when it is all running, I love this truck. I've got two 150 gallon fuel tanks, no DEF fuel required, paper logs, runs solid, turns on a dime, rides like a Caddy, and handles like a sports car!!! Of course that is when it's not in the shop.

Guys thats what i like to hear i dont have to run 3000 miles a week i just need about 2200 to 2500. That would be just fine with me. And i know that typically the reason for low miles when you dig deeper is drivers not working but complaining. I myself love running pa md and nj i stayed up I81 for 5 years. I think i would be fine with averitt i like to run day or night doesnt matter to me just as long as i get miles. I will be out of tupelo ms svc you all keep talking about it depending on the area you were out of so can anybody tell me houw the tupelo area is. THANKS FOR ALL OF THE INFO YOU ALL DRIVE SAFE .

Well, after taking in some breath taking scenery along I-77 in West Virginia at sunrise this morning, I delivered in Bristol, VA. Then Got dispatched to Louden, TN to pick up a load they need me to tug to Alpharetta, GA for a morning delivery. That puts me at 2200 miles on Friday morning. This has been a really nice week, however I am ready for the weekend.

I guess that is one thing that makes this job so enjoyable. If you are having a crappy week...you get to go home after a few days and start over again.

I think they wait until after your insurance kicks in to cover it...but not sure, as I didn't have to take it.
