Well already it has been hard. I am only 15 minutes into this lol. The hardest part so far? Kissing my 4 kids and my husband bye. I have never been anywhere alone. Never slept in a bed alone. I can do this cause my family depends on me. I am gonna make them proud! But I sure.hope it gets.easier....

It won't be easy at first but you will get used to being gone and it will get better. But once you go solo and have your own truck and go home for hometime, that is when it will become hard again, saying bye to the kids mostly. It was hard for me and I had 2 kids at the time when I was OTR and my wife was always crying too along with them LoL. So the initial byes and leaving is hard but that wears off in the first few hours or day of leaving then you slide back into your routine of habit and schedule and it is easy lol. But leaving home for me was always the hardest part with all of them crying and wanting me home and what not.

Good luck and remember that Werner will piss u off. Get ur first year. Bite ur tounge. Don't piss off dispatch or u will starve. Don't hit nothin goal always!!! Park at Walmart. Avoid truckstops for overnights get a 12 v crockpot and a bunch of cans of food and some bread. Don't buy an electric cooler. Buy a tire pressure gauge and one of those inflation hoses that hook to the emergency trailer hose. Buy a truck GPS and an Atlas ASAP. And again don't hit anything!!! And always carry a knife!!!

Good luck out there. Werner was my first company and at that time they had bumped it up to 325 hours of training. If you can get past the initial training hump you'll do fine. I myself start with a new company on Monday.

Make sure that Wal-Mart you wanna park at allows overnight parking or you will be paying a towing bill or fine.

A lot of the Walmarts in Ohio starting to post signs about no over night parking, else you pay towing fine.

Some Walmarts are noise ordinance meaning they allow deliveries from 7am - 10pm so don't get caught at night time.

Usuaully look for where the other trucks are parked, on one side or the other, usually grocery side.

    Good luck!
