This is definately a BAD shipper, but there are a few decent people working there. (Gotta give credit where it's due)

The first thing you'll notice when you go there is a little disclaimer: "There will be a $40 rework fee for any loads which scale under gross.... Drivers are responsible for ensuring proper load distribution. drivers must also present a printed scale ticket when requesting rework."

:biggrin_25525: You can see where this one's going I'm sure. The first time my dedicated route had an alternate order... Guess what? I'm under 80,000, but my trailer tandems and 5th wheel are as far in the proper direction as they can go.... No more slack to put weight on my steers... And my drives are 1000 over.... And the girl doesn't understand WHY I can't get my weight legal...
    ------------------------------
    Clerk: "You're under gross..."
Me: "I know, but you overloaded me, I CAN'T get it legal. You're gonna have to take a pallet off."
Clerk: "If you're undergross you're legal, so there's no reason to take a pallet off"...
Me: "Yes there is. My GROSS is ok, but you overloaded my axles. THOSE weights aren't legal"
Clerk: "You've got 1000lbs you can put right there" (pointing at my steer axle weight)
Me: "Ma'am, the only possible way your load will be legal is if Gabe figures out a way to put half a ton of hashbrowns on the nose of my truck... And I think that the D.O.T. would have a little problem with that"
Clerk: "Maybe you should talk to Gabe...."
    ----------------------
Round 2... Next week, they do the same thing... But the gal SEEMS to understand... And informs me that they have to get authorization to remove product.. And then explains that the customer is gone for the day....
I call up my boss, and the broker, and the customer leaving voicemails about the problem and delay... And go back in to ask about where I can find a good restaraunt... And find out from the night crew that the girl earlier had lied through her teeth cuz she was about to go home, and didn't want to deal with it.
    --------

    Round 3..
This one is more than one event, but it was an identical weekly problem that NEVER got resolved... The route was to the same customer, same time, every week.. but with 2 different standard loads. ONE was legal, the other had to be cut..... And every week, when I'd see the load info, I'd call them up... and have to argue them out of docking $40 for reworking it..
The Scale ticket requirement was an understandable requirement ....for an OTR truck.. But keep in mind that I"m there weekly, and I'd be upfront before I'm loaded that the freight will be exactly xlbs overweight... It took TWO months before they quit demanding a scale ticket (and an extra hour).
    ===============

    Round 4.
The last time before I quit this gig was a "funny NOW, but not then" story. I'm loaded with a new product... and it's an LTL run.. so I have another pickup. There's no options but to put the 4 pallets in the nose.... and it wasn't untill I got the rest of the load that I learned they'd overloaded me on my steers by 3,000lbs.... I'm now overgross...
Clerk: "We're gonna need a $40 rework fee before we start"
Me: "Um, I'm over gross, AND 3000lbs over on my drives"
Clerk: "Ok. We're gonna need to get a $40 storage fee for the product that has to be removed and reworked"
Me: "Um, You're gonna have to cut product from the order anyways. My boss says NO."
Clerk: "Ok. We're gonna have to get a $40 staging fee for use of the dock while we rework you.
    Me: "oh for Christ's sake"
    ------------------------

These folks are nice, but their way of doing business is insane. I've been there dozens of times and NEVER been loaded and rolling without a fight.

I noticed the same kind of not caring if they waste the truck drivers time at other lineage run facilities. Totally inflexible. I was at their facility in Illinios..... I think it was in University Park if memory serves me right. I was the first guy there in the morning when they opened, and they made me wait till 3pm to start loading me.
