I finally decided, I'm going to put a big holset turbo n sum 8" straights on my truck the next time it's in for a day or two. I think that will satisfy my appetiate. However, to bubbanbrenda: what are realistic opinion n expectation the stage 1 n timing u discussed? Will have to upgrade my trannny, clutch, etc...?
-
I live in Texas and have 8" straights, leased to a company based out of Arkansas and its passed their inspection 3 times so far.....I've ran several states also and had no issue.....my friend had straights and tried for a Tx inspection and it wouldn't pass....he put a resonator under the cab and all it did was knock a little of the bite off and in my opinion made it sound better

No tranny or clutch upgrade is necessary as long as you don't abuse it,(try to drag race everybody at every traffic light) I don't think you have enough posts to PM someone, have a moderator hook you up with a guy named Mr.Haney on here he's the one you want to tune your ECM, talk to him on the phone and you will get the education of a lifetime. Also, while the Holset is the best choice for noise, it probably wont be the best for economy/power.When you talk to Haney tell him exactly what you want it to do and he can set you right up.

Straights are legal in Az. Ive ran mine for years. Or maybe im just lucky haha

The Dynaflex muffler insert works really well. I have them in my 8"s too. You just order the spool "quiet"

If it won't pass inspection just gut out a muffler or resonator weld it back up and your good to go.
